DeBoer: You know how we only like tall WRs? What if they were also all 250 pounds?

Georgia has done some version of this before where they work primarily out of multi TE sets.
Their TEs were much better than the ones we have, but maybe they’re bringing in 14 hoping to hit on 3

Going to need a spread sheet to keep up with the TEs on the roster
I heard we’re gonna try a new 4TE formation with a single back to try and bolster the running game

One of my neighbors was Mickey Marvin who played OL for the Raiders during their SB runs. Nice guy but I use to give him a hard time he played for Tennessee in college.

Yes and their TE’s killed everyone. TE’s are a difficult match up and can bring extra blocking to the run game. Look at the NFL, they are great!

They did. Those were generational TEs. I’ll take a few of those. We’re bringing in some schmoes(unless I’m proven wrong)

Instead of the Oopty Oop it’ll be called the double donuts?

We will call it "clinch" formation.

Until something is done about the unlimited transfer portal, being a developmental program (in the sense that you take HS players, coach them for a couple years, and plug them in as starters) is a totally unrealistic way to operate.
Not entirely true and we’ll see if success allows them to continue this process. We’ll also see if it’s a sustainable model for yearly success or if it’s just a once every few years cycle. From the rant (I know):

Think people are missing the boat on the Indiana roster. Nine of their defensive starters were recruited out of high school at IU or by Cig at JMU. Five offensive starters too.
They’ve stayed, gotten better, and been augmented with transfers. But they’ve hit *big* on HS.

But Cig kept those guys around because few if any other schools wanted them. Basically they hung around for four years because they didn’t have anywhere else to go. That doesn’t work when you recruit four and five star kids and they are still being developed and not playing much by year two. They want to get on the field and they want to get paid so they hit the portal.

Also from the Rant, someone responded that only 3 of IU's starters were recruited by Cignetti at IU. He brought 5 with him from JMU, the others were already at IU or were transfers. I haven't verified that.

Hill isn’t trash. But he also shouldn’t be a feature back. He’s a rotational piece. Situational carries on short yardage. He can make a pile move a little but he’s not going to make anyone miss in space.
With some good offseason conditioning he could get better. A little more strength, a little more speed, and a little more conditioning and he is damn good. I like his vision and toughness.
I disagree he cant make anyone miss. He is shifty for a big back, but not wiggly. He had some cutbacks that led to good gains.

I think some people don’t appreciate just how bad our offensive line was this year. 115th in rushing in division 1. let that sink in. No, our backs weren’t great or even decent, but even a great back looks bad if he’s getting hit 2 yards in the backfield right after he gets the ball. If you don’t believe that, go watch some ravens film. Derrick Henry is a Hall of Famer, but when he gets hit 2 yards in the backfield right after getting the ball, he’s not usually going anywhere. And that happens too frequently behind the ravens offensive line.

Yep we desperately need Hollywood because of how bad our line is.
Our backs are capable of making a man miss in the backfield

give it another two years like this and you’ll see people in politicians to push Alabama to drop state income taxes for us to be more competitive in football.
