I initially was against it, but I'm starting to change my mind. He is not in sabans galaxy as a head coach, but looking around i can't see anyone who strikes me as a better option. He at least understands the importance of recruiting and defense. Who do we think would do a better job keeping things rolling? Would he instantly get us on probation?

After Saban and Avery, I'm kind of liking the way we are looking at the Pros' for coaches.
Saban was obviously attractive because of what he did in college football before going to the NFL, but it's the caliber of the coach.
But Dabo seems to be a pretty good coach with what he has done at Clemson. I like to tease Clemson fans that we are going to steal him.

Pete Carroll
Edit: I know how old he is. I am not being realistic here.

No to Dabo, at least not to follow Saban. Seems like a difficult transition from Saban's style to his style.

Dabo is the exact guy I'd like to see get the job.
Recruits like crazy.
Doesn't neglect defense at all.
Very good offenses that don't get too crazy.
Awesome guy who has worked for a taken everything he's ever had in his coaching career.
There isn't a college coach in America that I'd want at Alabama more than him. It's not even close.

quote:No. His style would be perfect to follow Saban. You want a guy to come in and try to be a Saban clone? Does that ever work? Hell, Saban is even letting the guys have more fun now.

I don't know why people mistake Dabo's goofiness for a lack of discipline and accountability. The guy demands a TON from his players.

I wouldn't mind after at least 5 more years of Saban.
Lucky said this Dabo talk is pissing him off enough to coach for 6-9 more years...

I've been on the Dabo train since before it was cool.

Would be a good hire I think. Dabo's personality would be strong enough to come in and be his own man and not try to be Saban.

How many Clemson games have you watched until this season? They would throw the damn playbook at people before Chad Morris hit the road.

Tom Herman or narduzzi of Pitt.

Dabo would probably be fine.
You want a proven college head coach, and Dabo has mostly proven himself. The fact he is an "Alabama guy" is just a small bonus.
My only concern about Dabo is does he have the emotional stability to handle the pressure cooker of Alabama.
I mean, he kinda flies off the handle a lot, and that's at Clemson.
The job pressure and shite you have to deal with as head coach at Alabama is like off the charts.

Plenty. It doesn't seem all the crazy to me. Could be wrong, though. I have faith that he'd make sure the defense was the focus. He'd keep Alabama in the top 5 in recruiting every year. He'd attract QBs. He'd have monster DLs.
I don't think he'd be as consistent as Saban. He'd probably make us pull out hair out some seasons. But I believe he'd field some unstoppable teams in Tuscaloosa.

Rather have Dave Shaw from Stanford.
