I should add Shelley to the impressed list. Guy is having a helluva year. If he finishes next week without a miss, there is no way he shouldn't get the Groza award. He'll be perfect for the season.

Agreed. Easy to overlook, but kid has been money.

The lack of a FG longer than 30 yards is going to hurt Shelley in the Groza race

Hopefully he'll pull a 48 yarder out of his arse against Aubie or something.

Think about this...

18

That's the total number of fg attempts we've even tried this season.

53

That's the number of XP's Shelley has kicked, in addition to being a perfect 10 for 10.

Mingo/Montgomery have combined for 11 sacks, 17.5 TFL, 13 QB Hurries (probably have a couple more), 1 Forced Fumble, and 5 PBUs.

Adrian/Dickson are Sophomores and have played against better OL. Mingo/Montgomery are Juniors.

Don't really think comparing them to a duo who has also had a down year makes it any better. Montgomery is the only good college player out of the LSU duo, while Mingo status is based on his potential in the NFL. He has never been an dominant player and likely won't be one in an LSU uniform.

The stats don't really do a passrush justice regardless. It's not always about recording a statistic, it's forcing a QB to make a quick decision and likely a bad one on a 4 man rush.

Bama doesn't get that often, they have to blitz and double blitz safeties to flush a QB or force a throw more times than not. Mosley is the best passrusher on the team right now, but blitzing him opens the middle and takes him out of coverage.

You can still have a really good defense and not have a good passrusher, and Bama has done it before and is doing it now. The Secondary wouldn't look as spotty as it has at times with a good passrush, but instead Lester, Sunseri, and Perry are pushed into covering longer than they can. And when that happens, a receiver gets free.

I hope Hubbard becomes the player he was billed to be the coming years, but it's not there for him right now. I'm not even sure how much Dickson is even on the field, but I assume it's not that high in pass rush situations especially...

Yeah I know, but most of the other candidates kick longer FGs, AND they kickoff.

I've read through this thread and i noticed nobody has mentioned Drake as being impressed with. Now granted i realize we've not been able to see a lot of him, but i'm very high on this kid. I think Drake will end up being a great RB for us.

I would've agreed with you, but if he's already violating team rules he won't go anywhere under Saban.

I am not disappointed in any of our players. They all play their asses off every play, and theyve had a helluva season so far.

I understand what you're saying. As far as impressed/disappointed, it's really a relative term, based on individual expectations everyone had going into the season on individual play. As far as overall, I don't think there is anyone at all who is disappointed in the players and the team. They've done a fantastic job to get and be where they are and in the position to play for it all again.

I am not disappointed with no players. They all play which is all you can ask for. I think fans put too much expections on individual instead of looking at overall team effort.

No. We can ask for much more than this. Look at Auburn this year and then re-evaluate your statement.

I agree with Flesh. High expectations keeps people hungry and striving for achievement. Works on the field, same as the workplace. If you are complacent you're gonna get passed. My disappointment in Sunseri, is that I expected better coverage skills this year. He's done a great job when blitzing, but he gets himself out of position at times in coverages. Whether it's mental breakdowns or just not athletic enough is up for debate. I think it's a been a mixture of both at times. It could also be, that I simply expected him to do more than he can, in which case, it's a matter of me having unreasonable expectations, which I could see as a possibility too.

I'm really impressed with the freshmen (can only imagine if Black was healthy)

the only disappointments imo have been Sunseri (just too slow and doesn't have a good enough vertical), Lacy (he looks a step slower this season), and Fulton
