It's kind of crazy to think Bama kept UGA from winning like 3-4 titles.

This is a good one. 20:48 mark.

greg/craig richardson getting out of bounds against auburn.
That was superhuman effort! Totally unsung play but Richardson who was listed as 5’9” 166lbs caught the ball just inside the right hash. Powell, the Auburn DB, listed as 5’10” 195lbs caught Richardson about 3 yards from the sidelines from behind and attempted something very close to a hip drop tackle. Richardson drug him out of bounds to stop the clock with 6 seconds left giving Tiffin time to trot on the field and thrust a dagger in Auburn’s heart. Great one!

Also, Dennis Riddle’s catch and run for the game winning td against auburn. Seems forgotten

“Edgar” Lacy dragging Irish defenders on the first touchdown in the natty set the tone for that game

2nd down before the Goal Line Stand > Don McNeal
Posted on 8/16/25 at 4:55 pm to McGregor
Here’s a definitely under the radar play that won a natty. It’s old school, 1979 Sugar Bowl vs Penn St. 4th quarter. Bama running their grinding wishbone when Stedman Shealey tries to pitch to Major Ogilvie who isn’t expecting the pitch. PSU recovers the fumble at Alabama’s 22. The score is 14-7 Bama. PSU drives down inside the 10, first and goal from the 8. 1st down run nets 2 yards. On 2nd down, they throw a little swing pass out in the flats and it looks like he’s going to walk into the corner of the end zone when a Crimson lightning bolt out of nowhere, Don McNeal, hits him at the 1 and pushes him out of bounds. If McNeal doesn’t make that play, PSU gets the tie and neither team gets the natty or maybe #1 Penn state is awarded it. Who knows? But that play set up the legendary goal line stand where on 4th and inches, Bama’s Marty Lyons told the PSU quarterback, “you’d better pass!” He wasn’t kidding either.

Who was that linebacker that forced the goal line fumble against LSU fb?

No that was 99 I think. This was a Saban era game. LSU ran a clever play and handed it to fullback. He was about to score and got ball punched out

Oh I think it was Trey Depriest.

As does McElroy to Upchurch in 2009 versus Auburn.

In my opinion, the most underappreciated play in the Saban era is the one that took place on the play before McCarron's 45 yard touchdown pass to Cooper in the 2012 SEC Championship Game. It was a 3rd and 5, and if we didn't get this first down, that long pass likely doesn't happen. If the long pass play doesn't happen, Georgia likely wins, and we don't win the National Championship against Notre Dame...Georgia does instead.
Yeldon made this first down happen through sheer strength and will power:
That play and the 2 point conversion late in the 3rd quarter Yeldon converted which lead to the 4pt lead forcing UGA to have to score a TD on their last drive instead of a field goal to tie and send it to OT as well.

Another One that I just thought of is the Zow TD pass to Jason McAdley in the Iron Bowl

Dennis Riddle
I had Freshman orientation with him and had no idea who he was at the time
The lost in history play(s) that I remember are the two TDs that Toderick Malone had against Georgia in 1994 at BDS. Funny enough the safety that he beat on those TD's was Will Muschamp.
