Unfortunately, that may not come in for another two weeks for the people that actually need it.

Glass half full: Fortunately the checks or deposits are coming pretty soon.

The death number for Jefferson County on the Alabama Department of Public Health's map keeps changing. At one time a couple of days ago I think it was 3, then yesterday it was 1, now it's 0.

The unfortunate side effect of the global pandemic. I believe I read 10 Million have lost their jobs. Once this takes the turn it should turn around.

The good news is that the underlying economy and the banks were in good shape prior to this, which is the opposite of how things were in 2007-08 when the financial crisis began. That should help the economy bounce back quickly when this ends. However, I fear that it will take much longer for the economy to turn around if this ends up continuing, as it is now, through July, August or longer. Hopefully in the next month or so we turn a corner and things can start slowly opening up again.

Perhaps they jumped the gun on attributing death to the virus and after an autopsy or lab results concluded the deceased passed from something else.

Perhaps. I assumed that when you click on a county and it shows the number of confirmed cases and the number of deaths in that county, that it only lists the number of confirmed deaths in that county.

Among the healthiest things you can do is to cut up a lemon, squeeze it into a glass jar of pure water (put the squeezed lemon pieces in it too), no ice, shake well and drink it on an empty stomach early every morning, right after drinking a small cup of pure water with a little organic apple cider vinegar in it. That start to your days is very beneficial for your pineal gland, endocrine, digestive and immune systems and in raising your body's ph to help prevent cancer cells from surviving. Add more water to the same jar of lemon wedges, shake it well and drink some periodically throughout the day. Pure water, a nutritional diet, regular exercise and adequate sleep are necessary for staying healthy, and slowing the aging process.

How does consuming low pH stuff raise your body's pH? Seems counterintuitive to me, unless your body starts trying to create a higher pH to counter what you just ingested.

It seemed counterintuitive to me too when I first heard about it.

LINK -- Fresh lemons: Though it seems counterintuitive to think that adding an acidic lemon to your purified drinking water could ultimately produce an alkaline result, it's important to remember that fresh lemons are also anionic. Once you drink the acidic lemon water, it will become alkaline as your body reacts with the lemons' anions during the digestive process. Use fresh lemons that haven't been exposed to air for more than 30 minutes — not lemon juice purchased at the store or lemons that have been cut up and sitting out in the open all day.

Note: Be sure to put the unpeeled, squeezed lemon wedges in the lemon water jar. The concentration of some of the key nutrients is even higher in the peeling. Drinking lemon water daily also helps lower high blood pressure.

Another possibility is that deaths initially get attributed to the wrong county. That's particularly easy to see happening in JeffCo because so many of the higher level of care hospitals are located there.

Patient dies at UAB, gets added to JeffCo, only to later find out they lived in another county. It's an inevitable result of people trying to get information out as quickly as possible.

Still likely way inaccurate. I doubt 13 people actually died in 1 day two days ago. It’s more likely Alabama is adding in the deaths in chunks. It’s also possible that the site is using the total possible deaths rather than the total confirmed.

The modeled curve on this site (in the OT) has been updated to indicate a peak daily death rate for Alabama on April 19.

Yesterday it was April 22, so our curve has gotten steeper.

The model currently projects 5,516 COVID-19 deaths in Alabama by August 4.

I'm afraid we're going to be in a painful situation. Ainsworth seems to be the only one in State government taking this as seriously as it should be taken. Ivey should be doing daily updates like mostlu everyone else.

On the flipside, I am glad Pres. Trump said what he said yesterday about it being time for the federal government to start taking care of America. He mentioned the 5+ trillion spent on the recent wars while our infrastructure was crumbling. Like him or hate him, that is absolutely the reason why the turn around will be good once we get past this mess.

Georgia's governor admits that he didn't know until the last 24 hours that infected people could spread the virus before they start showing symptoms and he still issued a stay at home order before Ivey.

Kemp is the type of leadership you get when your only campaign message is fealty to the president.

I mean are people really surprised? She wouldn't even debate her views when up for election.

She's a do nothing governor.

ABC 33/40 News asked Governor Kay Ivy’s office about the possibility of a “shelter in place” order for the entire state of Alabama this morning. This is the response:

“In consultation with the Coronavirus Task Force, the governor and the Alabama Department of Public Health have taken aggressive measures to combat COVID-19. The governor remains committed to exploring all options and has not ruled anything out, but she hopes that we do not need to take this approach. The governor’s priority is protecting the health, safety and well-being of all Alabamians, and their well-being also relies on being able to have a job and provide for themselves and their families. Many factors surround a statewide shelter-in-place, and Alabama is not at a place where we are ready to make this call”

Yep. That's why Florida has Desantis. When the Democratic candidate is a guy who was the former mayor of Tallahassee and gets arrested a couple of weeks ago found passed out in a Miami hotel room with drugs and a male prostitute, yeah, you end up with a spineless wiener like Desantis. I voted for the guy considering the alternative and I'm totally disgusted and pissed at the idiot for STILL refusing to shut down the state. And every step he takes is a half step that is forced upon him by the outcry from the Federal level or from the population. He has made Florida's COVID situation much more dire by being a complete jackass and ignoring the warnings of the health experts in favor of his campaign contributors. Stupid shite like shutting down condo rentals but hotels can remain open. WTF? He's done a lot of dumb shite like that during this.
