Besides obesity, diabetes, heart and circulatory system diseases, a bad diet also causes immune system dysfunction, leaky gut syndrome and the various autoimmune disorders that result from it, as well as being a major contributor to getting various cancers.

White sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white starches (e.g., white bread, pototoes and rice), wheat gluten, refined hydrogenated oils and pasteurized dairy products are among the worst things to consume. But whey protein, cottage cheese and yogurt are very healthy dairy products. Unrefined, virgin, cold-pressed oils (e.g., olive, coconut) are good for you. So are fish oil and castor oil. Fruits, veggies, nuts & seeds (flax, sesame, chia, quinoa, red grape, pumpkin), oats, real fruit & veggie juices, eggs, lean meats like wild-caught fish, chicken, turkey and center cut pork chops are other healthy food choices. It's also very beneficial to eat some probiotic foods (e.g., yogurt, cottage cheese, apple cider vinegar in water, sauer kraut) frequently, even in small amounts.

Among the healthiest things you can do is to cut up a lemon, squeeze it into a glass jar of pure water (put the squeezed lemon pieces in it too), no ice, shake well and drink it on an empty stomach early every morning, right after drinking a small cup of pure water with a little organic apple cider vinegar in it. That start to your days is very beneficial for your pineal gland, endocrine, digestive and immune systems, lowering high blood pressure and in raising your body's ph to help prevent cancer cells from surviving. Add more water to the same jar of lemon wedges, shake it well and drink some periodically throughout the day. Pure water, a nutritional diet, regular exercise and adequate sleep are necessary for staying healthy, and slowing the aging process.

Sounds like laziness to me.

Anti-malaria drug helps speed up recovery of coronavirus patients: study (NY Post)
quote:

The antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine has shown promise in treating the coronavirus – helping to speed up the recovery of a small number of patients suffering a mild form of the illness, according to a report.

In a study published online this week, Chinese researchers found that patients who were administered the drug saw their cough, fever and pneumonia go away faster than in a group that did not receive it, according to The New York Times.

The illness also appeared less likely to become severe among those who were treated with hydroxychloroquine, according to the small study posted on the preprint server medRxiv before undergoing peer review.

However, the study did not include data on severely ill patients...

This was inevitable once they announced the $600/week increase in unemployment benefits from the stimulus package.

I talked to the owner of Derk's Filet and Vine two days ago and he said once that announcement was made all of his hourly workers hit the door.

Partially true. But, seriously what job hasn't been affected? With the government shutting everything down, how can a business survive?

Found this interesting:

quote:

A new study by the New England Journal of Medicine found plastic objects can harbor coronavirus for two to three days. The virus can stay on cardboard for up to 24 hours and on glass for as long as four days depending on location and temperature. For this reason, some people are choosing to wipe down their groceries with a Clorox wipe when they get home.

The modeled curve on this site (in the OT) has been updated to indicate a peak daily death rate for Alabama on April 19.

Yesterday it was April 22, so our curve has gotten steeper.

The model currently projects 5,516 COVID-19 deaths in Alabama by August 4.

Alabama high schools begin declaring seniors are now graduates

quote:

Alabama State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey’s statewide task force made the decision, and Mackey told superintendents Friday that any high school senior who was in “good standing” and “on track to graduate” at the end of the third nine-week period, before schools closed due to the coronavirus pandemic can be declared a graduate.

Simply because the constant focus on total cases (which will never do anything but go up) drives me nuts, I'm going to start a rolling update of NEW positive cases over the last 2 weeks. This is the curve that needs to stay flat or even better trend down.

New COVID-19 testing coming to Birmingham area

quote:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Another type of COVID-19 test is coming to our area. We’re getting answers about what a finger prick could tell you about the virus.

This is known as an antibody test. ARCPoint Labs of Birmingham will begin the testing Friday, April 3. They prick your finger to determine if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19. The test takes 10-20 minutes to get the results. You have to fill out a form in advance, answering COVID-19 related questions.

We’re told if you have coronavirus antibodies in your system, it could mean you’ve built up immunity. The lab will then send the results to the state.

“We want everyone to understand this is not a test for sick people. This is a test to determine if you’ve already had COVID-19 and you’ve recovered or you’ve had exposure to it and you’ve somehow built the immunity in your body," Sherry Pouncey with ARCPoint Labs said.

The test is $69 and it’s not covered by insurance. This will be appointment-only testing, so call the lab before you go. The company is also offering tests to businesses.

For more information about testing, call ARCPoint Labs at 205-968-1090. The lab is located at 5510 Highway 280 South, Suite 215, Birmingham.

I know what I'm doing next week.

The unfortunate side effect of the global pandemic. I believe I read 10 Million have lost their jobs. Once this takes the turn it should turn around.

You could always use your stimulus check money on it if $70 bucks is over your budget.

Unfortunately, that may not come in for another two weeks for the people that actually need it.
