Wow, way more deaths then people that recovered.

The recovery rate should jump up soon, the people who got it in early March should be recovering soon.

It's misleading to me because the recovery rate only measures those who recovered and who were discharged from a hospital. The recovery rate doesn't account for the 97% of people who have mild cases who aren't checked into hospitals.

Ouch! stay safe! My wife (no pics) is having some chest pain (more on the side than the front) and coughing, but no other symptoms that I am aware of. Our 3-year old has been hospitalized twice in the last year with serious respiratory issues, so we're trying to figure out if the wife can/should get tested.

A small rumor about Mercedes "choice" to shut down these next few weeks:

Governor Ivey went directly to the plant Friday and ordered them to shut down.

Hope not but if you're still breathing you will probably be alright. Try to get a test.
Praying you will be better soon.

I noticed that when I saw France had so many listed as recovered. I think the U.S. has many more who are never going to be hospitalized but the deaths are increasing every day.

That's an easy yes.

It's interesting how different the testing demand is depending on where you are in the state. JeffCo sites getting overrun. Meanwhile, earlier today when we made a stop at the hospital in the ambulance, the number of people (other than staff) at the Elmore County site appeared to be 0.

Man, I hope you all don't have it. The respiratory issues are a symptom. It is possible your daughter is just a carrier. I would take your wife in ASAP.

Prayers.

Some interesting reading

quote:

We can only wonder whether accurate and timely information from China would have altered the way the U.S. government, the American people, and the world prepared for the oncoming danger of infection.

quote:

Some point in late 2019: The coronavirus jumps from some animal species to a human being. The best guess at this point is that it happened at a Chinese “wet market.”

December 30: Dr. Li Wenliang [China] sent a message to a group of other doctors warning them about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

January 1: The Wuhan Public Security Bureau issued summons to Dr. Li Wenliang, accusing him of “spreading rumors.” Two days later, at a police station, Dr. Li signed a statement acknowledging his “misdemeanor” and promising not to commit further “unlawful acts.”

Also that day, an employee of one genomics company received a phone call from an official at the Hubei Provincial Health Commission, ordering the company to stop testing samples from Wuhan related to the new disease and destroy all existing samples.

According to a New York Times study of cellphone data from China, 175,000 people leave Wuhan that day.

January 3: China’s National Health Commission, the nation’s top health authority, ordered institutions not to publish any information related to the unknown disease, and ordered labs to transfer any samples they had to designated testing institutions, or to destroy them.

January 14: The World Health Organization echoes China’s assessment: “Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China.”

January 19:
The Chinese National Health Commission declares the virus “still preventable and controllable.”

January 23: Chinese authorities announce their first steps for a quarantine of Wuhan. By this point, millions have already visited the city and left it during the Lunar New Year celebrations.

February 4: Mayor of Florence [Italy] urged residents to hug Chinese people to encourage them in the fight against the novel coronavirus. “I’m not a virus. I’m a human. Eradicate the prejudice.”

Maybe you've had it for at least 3 weeks. What's the life-cycle/recovery period? Maybe you should be tested. Prayers that you'll be OK and aren't exposing others to it.

ADPH Update: State is "on their on" to find testing supplies, now they are competing with every state in the nation to get those testing supplies. Hope to have 25 testing sites on line by the end of the week

6-7% of patients with confirmed cases have been hospitalized, those numbers could be off due to coordinating information. Real concern of lack of ventilators, no current shortage but there are some hospitals that are pressed at this time
quote:

The 500+ "spoiled" testing specimens from Tuscaloosa as highlighted by Mayor Maddox - ADPH says the samples were not refrigerated during transport. ADPH expects there are more cases that were insufficient due to how the samples were handled, etc
quote:

Testing backlog: ADPH says they are still at around 72 hour turnaround, it depends on how many samples are coming in a day
quote:

AL doesn't have specific data regarding how many people are recovering. Other states show more than 80% of people are recovering fully with possibly some element of immunity to the virus short term
quote:

Median age of those who are testing positive is 44 years old. Nationally, around 40% of those who are hospitalized are middle age
quote:

It doesn't appear a shelter in place order is part of the conversation right now according to comments by Dr. Scott Harris, state health officer.

China should be getting even more flak for this then they’re currently getting. But I doubt they’ll face any real repercussions

Maybe the rest of the world should stop importing stuff from China and stop all travel to/from China -- indefinitely. Imo, it's not worth the risk.

In fairness, Florence is south of the "disaster" zone and really isn't one of Italy's hardest hit regions.

Cases are reported here as "Italy" but outside of their 4 northern regions it's not much different than anywhere else in Europe -- aside from medical personnel/supplies being depleted by responding to the disaster in the north.

Saw a article back in February, that China was burning bodies to keep the outside world from knowing the true death toll there.

It is a LOT higher then what they are reporting.
