I hope Mallette had his minutes limited due to illness tonight. I'm increasingly worried we burned his redshirt for no reason.

That's a massive spread this year. Top 6 in the SEC could be like top 15 nationally.

Came into today with 8 in top 16 of coaches poll, insane. Of course Alabama had to ruin it by basically neutering Oklahoma. Though I do think State will slide into top 15 and Ole Miss is knocking on the door

Agreed. If he’s not going to play, they need to have him and our doctors say his knee issues have crept back up so he can get a medical redshirt.

Jarin

Good to see him score some buckets tonight. We need him to be a capable scorer around the basket.

Yep. Youngblood also made some great plays. Looks like he’s starting to round into shape coming off the injury. Also good to see Reid in there making plays after missing the last game. He’s terrific.

I looked it up, and of course you are correct. Here's the really crazy part: we had more *offensive* rebounds than they had *defensive* rebounds. So if we missed a shot, there was a better than 50-50 chance that we were getting the rebound.

Dominant! You don't see that happen often. That's a hard stat to look at if you are Porter Moser and your 13-0 start just got a harsh reality check about the talent gap.

Maybe this has been discussed already, but that game had some crazy numbers in terms of ball security, turnovers, etc.

Our five starters committed 1 turnover, combined. For the whole game. And all five starters played at least decent minutes (Cliff had 17, Jarin 21).

Sears and Philon combined for 15 assists and 0 turnovers, which are numbers you just never see.

We had 8 turnovers overall, 7 coming from bench guys. Jarin had the 1 turnover committed by a starter.

Incredibly efficient stuff from everyone, but especially the starting five. So good I'd be sort of questioning the defensive intensity if I was an Oklahoma fan.

It might have been Sears best game at Alabama. He takes a beating but keeps on pounding away.

We blitzed them early and they kinda folded. It's the price you pay for not playing a tough OOC. If you're not used to playing hard for 40 minutes conference play can be a wake up call. Doesn't help that it was also their first road game of the season and their best player is a freshman.

Oklahoma is a lesser opponent than Creighton for sure. OU doesn’t have much of an inside presence. Grant, Cliff and the other bigs destroyed them in the post. If we can get consistent three point shooting this team could win it all.

Agreed. And we didnt let up. The bench guys come in and play hard too.

Oats likes his energy guys coming off the bench. Might be Reid this season. He puts pressure on opposing defenses when we are playing fast. Love to see him attacking the rim.

Only 9 turnovers. Great. This team can limit the TO's but has to stay playing within themselves.

This was another big thing. Limiting turnovers. If we play locked in and focused this team will be very hard to beat.

He is definitely starting to play downhill and I agree, he seems to be frustrating other teams defensively.

This is probably what I appreciate most about the program Oats runs. The scoring and entertaining play style is just a bonus. We don't bring our best game every night and sometimes lose by more than we probably should have or win by less than we should have, but it's very rarely because we're just mentally checked out or loafing. That 21/22 team was pretty bad about it, but otherwise I can't remember many games where I thought we were half assing it as a team. He gets really talented players to go hard consistently, which isn't the easiest thing to do.

I wish that we could get Stevenson playing consistently. If we could, he could be a factor. The talent is there.

Aden Holloway has more tools than I expected. His perimeter shooting has been consistent and you could tell watching him last year that he could shoot, but he just lost his confidence and went hard into the tank.

The one thing he also does really well, that I generally hate, is the dribble penetration floater. But 14 games into the season and I have seen him consistently hit that shot over and over.

It seem like he is the only one that has a green light on that shot. Maybe because he makes them.
