Glad I only had to listen on the radio and not watch on tv.

this is serious, I'm afraid Auburn might can Barbee first and snatch Pearl first
I have a hard time seeing Pearl take a job like Auburn. They are either the 13th or 14th worst job in the league.

I think Florida and Kentucky are the 13th and 14th worst jobs in the SEC
j/k I know what you meant- Auburn is easily the worst program in the SEC. I can't think of a school that would be a worse basketball job. South Carolina or Ole Miss, maybe.

Auburn is playing on a different level than Alabama.

Alabama is 12th in the SEC after losing to Texas A&M. I keep hearing that this year is an aberration, that Grant is well liked in Tuscaloosa, however, the number of losses per year has indicated that our team has always been wildly inconsistent. We have had double digit losses each year of Grant's five year tenure. Frankly, our anemic, inconsistent, streaky offense has been the root cause of all of our woes. No matter how many wins you get, without lowering your number of losses shows your team has too many holes with not just your coaching, but your recruited talent as well.

LOLZ. Maybe one of those is realistic.

I agree... The offense has never been consistent in his five years and the defense took a step back this year. It is unacceptable to be this bad in the 5th year.

You are probably right... But who knows. At the time we hired Grant he was a very hot name.

What is even worse is that our football team scored 49 points against Texas A&M's defense, meanwhile, our basketball team could score only 48 points against Texas A&M's defense. Does that mean the A&M basketball defense is better than A&M's football defense?

If you've been watching this program, this year is no surprise. Everyone saw this coming.

Completely different situations too. Gregg Marshall is making plenty of money at Wichita St and making Final 4 runs, not sure what we have to offer him. Same for Buzz Williams. They're both making in the $1.7-1.9 million range.

This is embarrassing.
You know if this was our football team the coach would be gone with the quickness. Yet we tolerate mediocrity in basketball. Heck we are past the point of being mediocre. There are only so many losses to bad teams that happen before you realize that maybe your team is the one that sucks.

It is terrible... I love Alabama basketball. I think that they should be competing in the Sweet 16 almost every year. The passion for basketball in this conference is no where near football. Lets hope the next coach for Bama can get the fans to buy in and get us to that level.

In other news, The WOMEN'S team were pushed to overtime and won by EIGHT! Fire Grant and let Curry coach out the season.

If they don't fire him because of the excessive buyout then we will just sink further in the coming years. Who knows if the next guy will be better? However, the energy and excitement is dead.
I firmly agree. Alabama basketball and Coleman Coliseum used to be a raucous place to play, now, the crowd is the equivalent of a 7A high school in Alabama in terms of fans in the stands.
I have gone to Alabama games since I was old enough to travel during the Gottfried era. I have seen this freight train of failure coming since the few games I went to last year where we would struggle against Auburn and Arkansas. I just hope Bill Battle uses his common sense and pays the buyout to Grant. Just follow through with Judge Richard Posner's theory on efficient breach of contract that essentially says if it is in my best interest to breach a contract, then do so.

This is the one thing I'll disagree with. We played a terrible game which mostly falls on the coach, but the play-call at the end wasn't terrible. While I'm sure the goal was to get Releford closer to the 3-pt line, it did end up in a wide open shot for our best player/3pt shooter. Releford also had the room to make a play off the dribble, which in hindsight would've been the smarter decision. Overall, I'd actually consider it a pretty solid play-call given the time left, especially for Grant.
I can't consider the shot a good decision considering it takes 0.4 seconds to get a jump shot off and we had 7.8 seconds left in the game. Taking a time line three pointer is never a smart move. That was adrenaline versus basketball intelligence.

I never said the shot was a good decision, but that's not the play's fault. Like I said the goal obviously was to get him closer, but he was wide open off of the inbounds pass which allows for more than just the immediate shot when you have 8 seconds left.

I don't think I even saw the biggest negatider predict us being this bad...
If we would've played our normal defense that we've had under Grant then we would have been NIT bad, but not this bad. This is the major difference between this and last year's team.
