I had to stop watching. In the 5 years that Grant has been here, we simply have not had an offensive identity.

getting blown out by a shitty auburn team is inexcusable. players looked like they didn't want to be there.
Absolute ridiculous.
I want him fired before he returns to Tuscaloosa County.

Agreed. I didn't make it Just referencing it because it brought home how much he makes each game for terrible coaching.

Yeah, I'm all for him being fired. Just was expecting more out of a fake AG twitter. I'm kind of tempted to start one now, just so we can have a fake grant twitter that doesn't think forreal is funny.

Ok, I went back and read over Grant's contract this morning, and I'll check with a lawyer to make sure I have it correct, but there is a clause that if Alabama made a move and terminated his contract Grant is only owed $1 million a year through the length of the contract. There was more language added in one of the amendments, but as best I can tell it would be $5 million at the end of this season and $1 million less after the end of each subsequent season.

If you really want to get down to it he's been here 5 years and has only recruited/produced one good player. Green and Mitchell improved under Grant but Releford's his only recruit. Those are pretty obviously his three best players (throw in Mikhail Torrance I guess).

Not sure why that hasn't struck me before. 5 years-1 recruit.

That's kinda my go to in times of meltdown. His best team and best players were all Gottfried's guys. Players aren't being developed. In 5 years, our only two competent posts have been Green and Hines. Sad stuff.

Our fricking administrative staff are a bunch of pussies if they let Grant stay another year.

We need a mid-season firing, and if it were to happen it would be sometime tomorrow. This team's season is finished and we are coming off an embarrassingly bad loss to our rival. We might as well work on getting someone else ASAP and hope they can convince the recruits (primarily Coleman, if he goes other 2 will probably join) to stick with the incoming coach. It'd be nice to have a somewhat seamless transition.

Gottfried was fired with how many games left? 6?8?

But, we only acquired Grant in the process. but, he was the main guy we were going after.
I think.
my basketball brain is dying a slow death.

If Bill Battle can match the Kristy Curry hire, I say go for it.

I think Ben Howland fits that criteria perfectly. He's been to final fours just like her, he was fired from his last job and she was about to be. Both are good coaches and recruiters.

I'm mildly disappointed waking up this morning without a firing.
Do we need to rally Finebomb for the cause since he helped usher out Gottfried?

I'm going to wait until after the South Carolina game to really panic over the fact that he hasn't been fired yet. In all honesty, I'm ready to just lose the rest of our games so that we can actually win some in the future, or else next year will be even worse than this one.

I've always supported Coach Grant. Gottfried's last game, I got Gottfried to sign a poster that said "Proud Member of the Gottfired Nation." I wanted him gone because I believed in the potential of this program. Less than a week later, I stood outside to get an autograph from Grant while he was leaving his opening press conference (seriously, I was hanging out with Mal Moore, PBJ, and Cecil Hurt in my efforts).

But this is it. I'm done and I can't defend him anymore. This is the lowest point I ever remember Alabama basketball being. Lower than any hellish depth that Gottfried ever drove us to. Yet sadly, I'm not shocked. When Lacy and Pollard left/got kicked, it was the beginning of the end. For the first time in years, I wasn't excited about basketball season.

The fans need to not show up. Show Battle that we won't settle for this. We're not even going to the NIfrickinT. I quit. Thanks for giving us a chance Coach Grant, but your time has come.
