there is no “we” as you’re a room temp iq narcissist who can’t see outside your own head and never shuts up about it.

but saban and deboer both wanted him there. seems like they probably have a better handle on this than some melty fan whose synapses barely fire anymore. but that’s just me.

I'm OK with Roach, I think we have suffered on D mainly cause of linebacker play. I think the interior line has gotten the job done more than they haven't. Interested to see if they look different under a new DC.

Yea, getting tied to the death of a football player isn't a good thing. I think he is a solid coach. I wonder if that still hangs over his head during recruiting.

Regarding Jim Leonhard it was suggested on this board during our DC search last year that his wife wanted to stay up north and hence Alabama was not an option for him.
I have no clue whether that is correct or still the case, but the guy was an analyst for Illinois this year after his interim coach stint at Wisconsin. And that at 41 years old, with (from what I understand) a fine reputation as a DC.

As a position coach he coaches defensive backs where we happen to have a spot that just opened up.

Seems worth it to at least give him a call, but maybe there is someone here who knows more about him as a DC than I do.

JMO but Nick's defense most be very difficult for the guys to grasp thus mistakes often do us in. Hell Gus and Hugh gave Nick and Kirby (DC) hell by attacking the switches.

I honestly don't like the potential DJ Durkin hire. That's the only one that I've disliked so far. :\

I have no clue (you can say that again) about how good a coach Freddie or Robert might be but they know the lay of the land so that has to be worth something for this year.

I believe we're down to just one coaching position that's not filled?

Roach has been a solid DL coach and a great recruiter

I’m glad we’re retaining him

Same thoughts on Durkin. I’m not “take it or leave it” I’m just “leave it”

Yeah I just don't see enough upside with Durkin. I will say this, there is an appeal to him. Lane and Jimbo hired him. Saban was considering it. I don't see it but it seems a lot coaches do.

Who wouldn't want Bo Davis if you can get him.

Only one coaching position left? Don't we only have the 4 positions mentioned by Low confirmed or have some other sources confirmed hiring?

I am seeing this on SI where they are tracking it. LINK

Still not sure the Oline coach coming has been from a confirmable choice just yet. Still have a feeling he might want to stay in the NorthWest if he can, but maybe that has been made official he is coming.

They were looking to make a change at DL is the point, and it was pertinent to the conversation.
