Really confused about the uncertainty on the defensive coordinator position.
You’d think we’d be able to pull in a top notch guy to be the DC…we’re the freaking Univ. of Alabama! Don’t know anything about Womack, he just seems like kind of a soft spoken guy…not sure how that’s gonna play in recruiting. He might be a good DC. I just hate to see us go back to another Pete Golding type hire.

I think we'll make a solid hire, I just hope it doesn't take long enough that it cost us some good players on defense due to the instability.

My understanding was Armstrong was calling a complex scheme and doing a good job with it at UF. Muschamp personality, players loved him

A shite DC but elite recruiter? Yet all y'all wanted T-Rob. Same type coach. Kane Wommack is a stud. Been high on him for several years and wanted him before he took the South job.

UF looked awful on defense this year. I get the feeling he was way over-promoted from G5 to SEC.

If he’s the guy, I hope you’re right. I just know very little about him, was kinda hoping for a more established guy at DC.

He’s the head Athletic Trainer

Hope the staff isn’t confused. Wouldn’t surprise me that someone is already lined up and there isn’t any confusion at all. I also expect bama to fully vet anyone considered. This could mean feelers to other staffs both college and pro. I’m also guessing that Byrne is highly involved in this which means anybody saying they know is full of shite.

Armstrong was good at USM but Florida’s defense was not impressive at all this year. A little lukewarm on him

What about Ha-Ha?
Said they thought both Ha-Ha and Allen were staying but we’re working to confirm that.

Lot of smoke saying Wommack has accepted. Nothing official yet tho.

Players were missing tackles but the playcalls have been fine, which is what I’ve seen from most UF fans

Interesting that DeBoer, Wommack and Ballou were all together at Indiana a few years ago.
2020 Indiana had a top 20 defense with Wommack. Being a HC has to give him even more knowledge going back to just being a DC if hired.

How many of you remember the death of Willie Ryles at Bama in 86 due to the same situation under Ray Perkins?
I recall Willie Ryles getting injured in practice, and dying. He was a DL that hit someone, and then collapsed after the play with a head injury. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought it was just a freak thing. I also recall when one of Bryant's players nearly died at practice due to heat stroke. I believe it was Byron Braggs, the trainers cooled him off quickly, and saved his life. It shook Bryant up pretty bad.

When Penix was healthy, that Indiana team was legitimately pretty good.
