I just don’t understand the urgency from these kids. The portal is open for 30 days. No one is practicing. A kid like Bond, Downs, Niblack can go anywhere in the country.

Jake Pope is going to feel like an idiot if Downs transfers to Georgia.

Deboer needs to chain the kid to a locker though. Great chance right here to show your recruiting chops. He’s failed to recruit his first choice at Defensive coordinator, don’t fail to recruit your best football player. Downs is a heady kid. He cares about being developed. I don’t think there’s a hire we can make at this point that will be someone Caleb is comfortable with, so you’ve gotta sell him on the hire you make. Aside from his value as a football player, it’s going to be a real kick in the nuts to fan morale and public opinion.

REPORT: Alabama star DB Caleb Downs is undecided on whether he should enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per @TomVH.

"Travaris Robinson staying at Georgia factors in."

He coached with DeBoer at Indiana

Or DeBoer goes after the Michigan or Ansley, who is at the Chargers

I'm curious if DeBear asked CNS about his interest in simply being the DC if he'd be interested.

If you're trying to be funny or clever by repeatedly not using DeBoer's real name, it's not working. If you're a Barner, Corndog, or other troll, carry on.

It’s so short-sighted to think we should’ve chosen the DC based on any one player.

He himself hasn't said anything but the rumor mill is in overdrive.

There are a bunch of stupid takes on this board lately so let me perhaps add another.

If you place the blame on the HC for rich teenagers jumping ship, you might be an idiot. Some of these players are making as much as the people charged with developing them. I don’t know who our highest paid player is but it wouldn’t surprise me if Downs hits a million, wherever he ends up. And what’s the bidding up to on Ryan Williams? Surely somewhere north of half a mil.

We used to be able to get the top recruits with a new Charger and now Texas is handing out Lambo’s. This kind of money is fricking the game up with a quickness.

Most adults have an instant gratification mindset. It’s even worse with kids. Then, throw in being offered all kinds of money and things from other schools and it turns the dial up another notch.

I agree though. Doesn’t the portal open again in April?

For some like Powhound to always say he was right, it’s funny he can’t spell our new coaches name correctly.

Pretty good assumption he would be looking at his options as a defensive player

Kid seems to be smarter than most his age so I hope he doesn’t decide to leave at the first chance like this

Yeah, they overlapped one year in 2019, but I'm not seeing anything in his history that makes me think he'd be a good choice for the DC job.

There is one driver for acting quickly. When is the last day they can enrole in classes for the semester. If they miss the date, they cannot take part in spring training. They would lose severalmonths on prep to be ready to play in the fall.

Why would he risk coming here when he knows UGA is going to be good and he’ll be offered a big time HC job in the next few years?

Excellent point!

I don't know why we even waste our time interviewing good coaches, when we really should be looking for lesser guys from poorly run programs.

And he does the same across several threads, so it's deliberate.

UGA passed, it was the 12th. OSU isn’t until the 19th.

Chargers now have completed today’s head coaching interview with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

Lots of ball left to play. If Chargers hire Harbaugh. They get to go through the coaching carousel as well.

Some coaches will come available.

I hope this a joke. Chargers were one of the worst defenses in the league.

Our friend Daboll over with the NY Giants is interviewing Derrick Ansley. Doubtful he comes back to the college game.
