Can't do better than win. Defense and special teams were amazing.

JMO but halftime adjustments for the defense were phenomenal. I thought I saw a wider variety of coverages and pressures that had FSU all screwed up.

That and we are actually using subs this year instead of trying to prove rush specialist are 3 down players. Even against Clemson we left our 1s in for way to many plays when guys like Hand and Frazier we're making plays on the field.

Statwise, Jalen didn't put up huge numbers, but I thought he played a very good game. He didn't have hardly any bad throws. Completed 10/18 passes and a ton of those were drops. He didn't turn the ball over which was huge, and he hit Ridley deep for a TD. He looked like a different player tonight. Saban said in the press conference Jalen did exactly what they asked him to do, and I think he did a really good job

I think we need a LOT less of Jalen freestying in the backfield and a LOT more runs for our RBs. I think this "Let's put Jalen in space and see what happens" attitude is causing him to be indecisive, and he's trying too hard. we have a great stable of backs, let them carry the ball, and let Jalen be the QB.

That Florida State defense is straight up legitimate. Man, big, fast, didn't miss tackles. That was a grown man football game.

Ya exactly..
Having only one WR (Ridley) catch a pass tonight with the amount of talent at the position is concerning.
Plus, I don't think any of our TE's were even targeted with Daboll's history- surprising as well.
Definitely gotta spread it around, get more guys involved.

.... or we can use all of our weapons to their fullest ability.

Including Jalen Hurts ability to evade and run.

I don't know that the plan was to have Jalen "freestyling" (whatever that means). He just happened to be on the run a lot because almost every time he dropped there was a free rusher. Would people have been happier with 2-3 more completions but 3-4 more sacks? I'm a little surprised by this postgame reaction. The funny thing is if you asked a lot of people on this board they would tell you Francois played the better game last night because he threw for 200 yards.

They would.

They would also leave out the only reason he threw those was because we struggled to get pressure on him from our defensive line in the 1st half.

The second we started blitzing and our Dline wore their offensive line down? He didn't have the time to make a clean pass..... just like Jalen all game long.

Look at the long TD he threw to Ridley as evidence.

FSU definitely had their defense ready. They were drawing up key blitzes that gave them a free runner, and were disruptive up front. Granted, I think Bama has a lot to work on offensively, but they brought it. Sucks to see their QB go down, because that changes the whole outlook of their season and hurts the perception of the win.

I was disappointed in the offensive line. Hopefully it was a combination of it being the first game and a very good FSU defense. Jalen was running for his life all night and there wasn't much running room (except for Damien who is still our best back). I don't think we got a good look at Jalen's passing. The passes he did get off looked pretty good though.

That's true. FSU likely loses 2-3 extra games this year if Francois is hurt and goes from a top 5 team to maybe a top 20 team. I think they have a good chance to run the table or lose only one more if he doesn't get hurt. I feel badly for them.

Did Diggs get benched for Wallace, or was Wallace just playing as an extra corner? If Diggs did get benched, that's one discouraging thing for me. I mean if Wallace is the best guy I'm good with that, I just know that it seems like we are searching badly for that corner opposite Averett (who played well despite the one long throw over him - he was in perfect position, but a 6'5 receiver went up and made a good play).

A great win to start off the season against a top defense that looked like a seasoned D near the end of the season firing on all cylinders.

Jimbo is a great coach and I thought he did a great job scheming against our D in the first half, but we adjusted and Francois has never been good when he is 3rd and long.

I also like how our D as whole stepped up. No big game for anyone but as a unit were on especially for the first game.

D Harris looked good and the throw by Hurts to Ridley was money. I think because of how good their D was we were conservative in play calling but I would rather that with a solid win instead of a close win due to turnovers

Only concern I have is our red zone offense needs to get better. Defense giving us opportunities and we should of had another 2 or 3 scores. It could of ended up like USC last year
