Who would be the OC?

I think there are going to have to be some changes or perimeters eventually put in place with the NIL and transfer portal crap. Maybe make it 1 transfer tops for every player to make them think long and hard about if they’ll use it, instead of bouncing every 0.2 seconds when things get tough.

They tried this. Several states sued the NCAA and have temporarily killed that restriction.

Pruitt needs to be back on the team

Yep, and while a preliminary injunction isn't dispositive or anything it's pretty rare for them to not become permanent given the standard for granting one.

All it will take is one filing by an athlete claiming interference with his or her ability to profit and it will be struck down.

Well, I think something is going to have to be cracked down on eventually, it’s ruining the sport, and super chaotic in the current form. There needs to be some kind of limit on what you can rack in financially if you hop around. Like, find a way to incentivize players to STAY rather than leave, there’s gotta be a way to implement a regulation that is in the best interests of all parties.

I would not want Pruitt on the staff with Lanning. Pruitt's ability and willingness to push back against Saban was fine. I don't know that it would be as welcome with a 30-something defensive-minded head coach. Lanning needs some experienced staffers, but I don't know that Pruitt is the personality needed to mesh with a young coach. I say this as a big Pruitt fan.

I'm thinking it could be Deboer. Lanning's buyout is supposedly crazy high. I remember when Nate Oats was hired and it was completely out of nowhere. It was being said that Thad Matta (former Ohio State coach) was in Tuscaloosa and then like an hour or two later Oats was hired. Caught everybody by surprise.

University Blvd should be renamed the Saban Way or Champions Drive

I liked Leach's suggestion the most. Add two options to scholarship paperwork. You either opt into NIL and the transfer portal, but you can be cut or traded like a professional or you opt out of NIL and the portal but you are guaranteed 4 years at the program of your choice.

I liked Pruitt also but there’s a price to be paid when you dance with the devil. He should have never dealt with that fat pos fulmer. Look where in put him now

They need to put some caps on player earnings based on experience / achievements. Won't happen, though. It's hard to put the genie back in the bottle.

I think it will be Norvell. Someone would have to stroke a huge check to get Lanning. And he has a good situation at Oregon. Norvell aint nothing but a winner.

When the dust settles on this a bit, all of the various news swirling reminds me that we need to discuss why Dabo has a clause stating if his next coaching destination should be Alabama (and only Alabama), there's a 1.5x multiplier applied to his buyout.
What the frick is that? How is that even enforceable as a non-compete?
lol

NIL needs to be tied to years on campus. Reward kids for staying and penalize jumpers. Maybe 1st transfer waives the rule and a junior is rewarded like a junior. 2nd time you jump, you’re at the bottom again.

It might have worked if such a system had been implemented before the supreme court became involved.
