According to the Sidelines - Bama account on X, 247 Sports is reporting that Saban told the team that he is retiring due to age and health concerns. The players were also told to expect a hire within the next 72 hours.

I do truly hope that neither Coach Saban or Miss Terry have any health issues. They’re great people and I hope they get to enjoy a nice, long retirement with their family.

The part you are missing is Dabo, like Saban, hated the NIL bull crap, and in 2020, recruiting and evaluating was a crap shoot, it had to be done from a distance. So, in 2023, it showed, there was more parity in CFB across the board.
But Dabo probably realizes now the pandoras box is open. Its probably not going to be shut. It should be. In 10 years teams like Rutgers, UCLA, Texas, where more money resides, will be ruling CFB, you mark my words. Hell even Harvard and Yale might make returns, they have billions of dollars in endowments, and very, very rich alumni.

Definitely not my choice. But he was incredibly dumb to take that job, Knowing probation was coming, or maybe they were already on probation. I think he was the only one who didn't think it was a terrible decision when he was hired.

Sounds like he legit coming to Tuscaloosa or already in Tuscaloosa though, according to Rodney Orr and The Next Round podcast. He seems to be the top choice and the first interview.

I’m not being whatever but i fly privately into KTCL a lot during the season and my contact there said Lanning is headed here now.
