Asking BoB to be innovative is akin to asking a WW1 calvary commander to coordinate a drone strike using satellites and GPS. He simply has no concept of doing that.

This is so accurate.

He literally can't do this. He can't give us what he doesn't have.

Which is why we need Saban to do the needful

Bill will not be back at Bama for 2023 no matter how this football season ends.

I think it’s pretty clear that Bryce has carried the offense in spite of BoB and when he’s gone we will struggle unless Ty is just the second coming of Bryce (which is possible, but not something you can bet on).

On the other hand last night we win going away with a backup Qb who should be playing a skill position if we just hold on to the ball better. It’s not all BoB or Jalen, it was both

I believe It’s been Kiffin, Daboll, Locksley, Sark and now bob? With a 3 week Sark stay after Kiffin was fired. Could be wrong either way bob is by far the worst.

The sad thing is Saban rushed to hire BoB. Saban spent zero time trying to figure out the next move at OC.

I think the Nussmeier hire gave Saban PTSD about hiring a young up and coming coach from another school as OC. It’s been nothing but retreads and rehabilitation hires since. Some like Sark and Lane worked out exceedingly well. Others did okay primarily due to the overwhelming talent they had at their disposal. A coach like Phil Longo would have been a far better hire than BOB after Sark left. Longo constantly churns out high powered offenses with good production from the QB position year after year. If he had our resources at his disposal, the results would have been incredible.

100% agree and you’re right, Longo would have been a great hire. Also wish Saban didn’t listen to anything Belichick says regarding offense. No clue if true but rumor was after Josh McDaniels went to the Raiders Belichick wanted bob back as his OC but never asked because he didn’t want to put his friend Saban in an uncomfortable position of either saying no or letting bob out of his contract and having to find a new OC.

I think we all figured we'd have some sort of tailored plan for Jalen last night. Maybe not great, cause BoB, but at least something that played to his skillset.

Nope. The plan was literally just to run 4 running plays and the exact same drop back passes, but only on 3rd down.

Absolute disaster. It's quite frankly incredible that we ran for almost 300 yards and still won that football game with all the terrible that we put together for that game.

Is it possible that BOB’s struggles are, at least in some part, related to Saban’s insistence that he run the offense that was already installed?

That has always seemed counter productive to me.

Like I said early on in the game thread, we literally just called the package of 5-10 plays they had for Milroe if Bryce had to miss a couple of series. Fine for a few drives. Not fine for a whole game. BooB needs to be gone at the end of the year. Sucks we're wasting our two years with Bryce on this clown.

If that was the case we'd see a whole lot more motion, because that was a staple of the last 3 offenses (Kiffin, DaBoll, Sark).

The whole "Alabama offense" and the OC tailors it is pretty clearly a very, very loose definition.

BoB is no Lincoln Riley for sure, but if you can't get better execution out of the QB then you're in for a tuff go.

If your plan is based on the DC/OC outsmarting the other teams then you need a better/revised plan.

The Jimmy and Joe's must do their part and consistently!

The job of the OC/DC is to put the jimmy and joes in a position to succeed. I haven’t been a fan of Golding but I’ll give him props, he’s improved and is putting players in position to succeed. BoB on the other hand is setting these dudes up to fail. Bryce won the Heisman in spite of BoB not because of him. Also go back and watch Sarks play calling in 2020, all the motion, tempo, fakes, movement to get a mismatch he wanted. Yes team was loaded but that season was a masterclass in offensive schemes and play calling.

I never see opposing defenses looking the wrong way. I never see us put the defense in conflict. I never see us motion into a mismatch.

I watched Milroe all night. He's going through his progressions. In fact he spent too long going through them on multiple occasions. There's nowhere for him to go with the ball. That's almost impossible especially considering the pass pro was great (the O line was incredible all around last night).

Something is broken. Systemically. Specifically in the pass game. Bryce covers up a lot of sin. But it shouldn't require a once in a generation QB to complete a pass. Pulling hard for OB to figure this out.

Same stuff happens with Bryce he just makes magic happen.

Milroe just has no sense of his area and fumbles easily.

Honestly guys, how many times have people complained about our OL not blocking ot WRs not getting open.... not realizing this happen when your offense route tree is easy to blanket cover and we need a QB to make NFL timed throws to small windows for success?

I'm not saying Bryce hasn't missed throws deep or WRs haven't dropped balls. That has happened.

BooB is asking college QBs to make NFL reads and NFL throws. It only works if the QB is NFL ready. We are fortunate enough to have one. Last night we saw what it looks like when we don't. I truly do not understand why we couldn't run a simple roll out to give Milroe an easy read, maybe throw a couple of screen passes to Gibbs, or a jet sweep to Prentice or Bond. Anything besides asking some inexperienced kid who is drowning out there to make a bunch of full field reads from the pocket.

sadly, cns has become the ceo of excuses. with the number one excuse being, player execution of plays.

BoB has literally set this offense back about 10 years

Bump. Every Houston fan warned us in 2021. This guy is a loser and is no coincidence that everything about our dynasty came crumbling down when this a-hole came to town.
