My group I went to the final four with all adopted them as our western team too since we bought a shite ton of their gear from the campus bookstore

That’s how they became my out west team when I was a teenager. That devil/pitchfork logo is tough. Then I found out they were the number 1 party school in America and my 2nd team was secured.
It’s always good to have a 2nd team to cheer for that doesn’t ruin your entire weekend when they lose.

I like Dillingham. He is Arizona State alum though, right? Would be a interesting hire. I think he would do good but could turn out to be like Napier.

Not a bad coach, but I’ve seen him do some goofy shite the last couple of years. Decisions that almost cost them wins. His in game strategy is very questionable at times. He had BYU beat 2 years ago and his end game very nearly let them steal one from him. Michigan will go ballistic if he does something like that and loses to an Iowa or Wisconsin.

Yeah he’s firmly in that “analytics complete nerd turned football coach” mode.
Like Mike McDaniel but even way less cool

It's confirmed.
SummerOfGeorge = Kenny Dillingham.

Jimmy Sexton is his agent, of course Sexton is going to listen, come back to Bama and get an extension
I don't think it's worth giving DeBoer an extension. He already has a ten year deal with a buyout the university would struggle to meet for at least one more season. Being the head coach at Alabama on that kind of deal should be good enough to ward off any temptation to take over Michigan, especially under these circumstances. If it isn't, you're going to be dealing with this every time any prominent job opens.
Frankly, the only thing that would make DeBoer leaving a catastrophe is the timing, since this coaching search cycle has already been completely exhausted and nobody even decent is left available. In terms of the actual quality of coaching you would lose, I think we all know that there are plenty of coaches out there who could go 9-4 and 10-3 with these rosters.

There are only a few Saban recruits left on this team and they’ll all be gone after the season. This roster is now DeBoer’s and if he was to take the Michigan job half of the players would go with him or some place else not to mention the recruits who just signed would ask out of their NLI.They came here to play for him and if he leaves our roster will be decimated and it would take a good minute to recover from it.I don’t understand why some people in our fan base don’t understand this.

Because the people saying these things are trolls who are wishing it into existence. Rival fans and the media want Alabama to fall like the Roman Empire did. They hate us so badly they don’t know what to say.

This fan base doesn’t do nuance and they don’t look below the surface.

We don't want to lose our head coach during late December or early January. The market is tapped out, you're hiring on someone else's terms instead of your own to boot. The roster attrition risk is debilitating.
The rub is that I don't think it is financially prudent to get a larger longterm commitment to DeBoer. If there is a need to be a financial incentivization to keep DeBoer around, it needs to be crafted in some way where it does not deepen the cost to move on if he's not panning out in a few years. If his agent wants more money, fine, put it on the yearly payout while employed. The termination cost needs to be pegged to the 2024 contract.

I don’t think our fans to this day understand how much the landscape has changed, the players can walk and there’s nothing a coach, a process or, especially, the fans can do about it.

Well if you’re a very very wealthy fan there are things you can do about it. Look at Tex Tech.

I’ve said this before and got downvoted … I am not confident our old money can match checkbooks with people like that or the Michigan booster over the long term.

first, i dont think ckd is going anywhere, would be totally shocked. however, if there has to be a new keep the coach contract, it should be performance based. it shouldnt be the agent has us strapped across a barrel and we'll take it with a smile contract.

Spot on. Our deep pockets crew would be Mrs. Ellison’s groundskeepers. I hate it, but Alabama has yet to produce a diehard fan that has hit billionaire status. We’re trying to play the new big money game without the tools to play it.
