Lots of mamas and wives not happy that their son or husband is about to spend 3 to 9 months in El Paso or wherever near the Southern Border but it doesn't really matter.

Maybe she’ll stay home the rest of the season. She is a “look at me” if there has ever been one. Wears a sparkly outfit where she stands out, does a goofy free throw shooting thing for the last couple of years but now has to use a diamond mini ball. If I was Mark, I’d tell her to stay home. It’s cringy and embarrassing.
But I’m getting old. Might be cool to some. At least his parents come to games and care, he’s had a lot of support by his family but it seems travel ball to me.

Mama is a Bama fan and she loves that her son is a star on the basketball team. If she ain't happy about her son getting benched, congrats so is every parent in that situation.
There is only one person who can do anything about it and it ain't Mama Sears.

uncalled and unnecssary comment. You brought political into this.

I saw what she posted & it's not that bad. I heard alot worse from the stands coaching peewee football.

I feel like I’m just piling on since he had a bad night, but I haven’t liked the free throw thing since it started. The Sears family is probably cool though, Mark is a great player to have as the face of the program. I believe he’ll continue to have a good season and all of this will be water under the bridge (whatever that means) lol

Seems like moms have a tough time grasping this concept. Every player determines their own playing time.

What? My point is mamas and wives don’t like their husbands getting deployed but they aren’t in the chain of command.

Whatever the reason was for Oats to bench Sears, hopefully Sears responds to the adversity in a positive way and pushes through it. Doing so will make him a better player and person.

The main takeaway, for me, is that Oats expects his guys to play like the best team in the nation twice a week & won't accept anything less. We're really lucky to have him. If he stays long enough, he's going to win a natuonal championship guaranteed.

There has to be more to the benching than just having a bad half or playing non existant defense. I'm almost certain words were exchanged and Sears probably said something he couldn't take back at the time! Whether it was to Oats, an assistant or a teammate...it doesn't really matter! What matters is Oats laid the law down....up to Sears how he handles a little discipline.
Coach KD, you can learn a lot from the basketball coach!!

The team had another shite start and Oats picked the guy to bench that would show ALL the players that they're going to sit if they don't show effort. He could have sat several guys, but he was making a statement.
Now, I do wonder if Mark has more of an ability issue than an effort issue, but Nate knows better than I when he's giving 100%.

What people are missing is the simple fact that Coach Oats benched Cliff Omoruyi as well but the thing about Cliff is that he didn't have bad body language!

Every Alabama fan should trust CNO’s judgement given all he’s done for the program. He’s more than earned the benefit of the doubt here.

Anyone questioning coach Oats at this point is a grade A, certified moron.

That's the beauty of this great nation. You can say the most moronic things imaginable as long as it isn't defamation.

This is the biggest of nothing burgers ever.
I really question whether anyone overly concerned about this ever played sports.
I’ve watched parents and coaches go at it over play time in 4th grade girls basketball.
To think parents are happy when their future pro gets benched in football or basketball is laughable.
If the right attitude is taken moving forward everyone will be better from this.

The comments I saw were expressing frustration with Mark not being given a chance to play better in the second half. Insisting he wasn’t hurt and that had nothing to do with him not playing. Basically a mom defending her son (although I’m not sure there was anything to defend). She didn’t trash the University and didn’t call out Coach by name. Probably not the wisest choice as it just gives opposing fans reason to make fun. Probably embarrassing to Mark as well. Using social media as a catharsis for what to her was a frustrating situation.
