This is the proper response. I like Lane for the most part. But he is bitter as frick he didn't get the call to replace Saban and he's got the equally bitter Pete Golding as his girl Friday. They are deliberately targeting Bama players and tampering out of spite. When Saban talked about people camped out in T-town trying to poach our roster when he retired he was talking about Lane. He's the bitter ex-girlfriend furious he didn't get the ring
Just to be honest. A large part of me still low key wished Kiffin was our coach. I know all the counter points, and for whatever reason….i don’t care lol

I honestly thought when Law hit the portal that was Bak’s chance to move to a scat/slot position. It makes complete sense.

What the hell is this barner doing over here?
He calls out ChexMix/AuburnTigers all the time, good dude imo

Agree. And especially THIS barner.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how people got and remained invested in this saga. Kid basically rode the pine this season.

Notable exceptions however are the stinking Vols and the shorthorns.

Correct but that was an agreement between Nick and Alabama. Most every coach has a buyout.

Same person.
Also, I don't seem to understand the butthurt about a guy wanting to play offense and defense. They're 17-22 year olds for the most part. You think Ryan Williams is tired after a game where he only gets 8-10 targets? You think he's incapable of playing corner?
Was Travis Hunter a good return on the investment? All he did was win the heisman. Would he as a WR? No. Would he as a defender? Also, no. But why people seem so angry about Mbakwe wanting to negotiate for playing time as a receiver AND defender is beyond me. Seems like BAMA is getting 2 players for 1 NIL deal.
Most of these players play offense and defense in high school. Why stop at the college level? Again, it seems like allowing some of them to play both ways is NIL bargain shopping.

Playing Hunter both ways got Hunter a Heisman and gave Coach Prime the bonafides to go with his bluster. If playing Mbakwe both ways does the same for DeBoer's credibility, we should be happy for it. I just don't think Mbakwe is Hunter redux though. At any rate, if he wanted to play both ways we're in such a dire strait at WR production right now that I think you should accede to his request.

He never stirs up trouble over here and honestly if we wanted a positive only Bama forum people can just stay at Tidefans or whatever site.

I don't think he's going to win the heisman either. My point is that a player that can play both sides of the ball should be desired at this point. These players are mostly used to it from playing both sides in high school anyway. And the upside is that, if Mbakwe is a decent receiver, then BAMA is going to save on NIL by not having to take another WR. We already know he can play his defensive spot.
I just don't get the butthurt about having guys that want to play both sides of the ball. Adapt. The days of building depth like Saban did are over. I think it's forward thinking in this era. Hunter is just the first of his generation to do it. Kudos to coach Sanders for recognizing he didn't have a better WR than his starting DB and allowing him to play both sides, I say.
Would anyone be this butthurt if the best punter on the team just so happened to be the qb and the coach allowed him to punt?

Bingo. College roster building is going to be increasingly more about maximizing your payroll. WR and DB are two positions that require a lot of bodies and there is a fair deal of carry over between being a good WR and DB.

Why do people always go to the lowest common denominator to make a point. It’s like women arguing for abortion because of all the pregnancy caused by rape and incest.

This is a guy who played offense in high school. He is recruited as a defensive back which he accepts but has a learning curve and fell behind other guys. He is going to be more comfortable playing offense. I don’t blame him for wanting to switch or try both.

He played quarterback, primarily. So, yes, he's used to having the ball in his hands, but he's not an advanced receiver by any means.
I'm fine with him playing WR here, or even both ways. But honestly he doesn't really give us that big body possession guy that we were missing this year. Maybe he can be a gadget guy or even give us a Wildcat presence that can throw the ball also.

I don't care. What's the point of an Alabama board if it has barners in it?

A DB playing WR just seems to make sense to me. The positions mirror each other. DBs were traditionally WRs that were short or couldn't catch. During the last 2+ decades the position has become more and more specialized because it's difficult for a player to participate on offense and defense in practice. He can't be with the WRs and DBs at the same time.
However, Mbakwe doesn't have to learn the entire offensive playbook in order to get on the field as a WR.
Let's pretend Milroe could actually read a defense and wasn't afraid of contact, can you think of a better guy to play safety? Safeties diagnose offensive plays. QBs diagnose defensive plays. It's just a matter of reverse engineering.
