Basketball doesn't really need commentary, you just follow the mostly continuous action. So you might as well learn a bit about the Sea Peoples and the Bronze Age Collapse. It's just more efficient.

I browse social media while watching the game. Sometimes the BB action gets me so frustrated that I take a few minutes of eyes off the TV and then come back to it. The sound will be low or sometimes even muted like the mid week game.

Yeah, I don't know who is down-voting this. Vitale was was a blue-blood knob-slobbing dufus full of childish catchphrases that he yelled at the top of his lungs back in his heyday. The only difference now is he's so old you can't understand what it is he's yelling.

I don't know, maybe some people are nostalgic for his clownishness.

Agreed 100%. I don't mind the down votes. I'm glad he beat cancer and is well enough to call games, but anyone actually glad to have him back has mental issues. The dude is one of the most obnoxious announcers in any sport.

He got a huge ovation from the Bama fans at the game.

I'm sure. They didn't have to listen to him.

But to have given him an ovation means they know who he is and have listened to him before. I like the old coot and now age has slowed him down a little and he is a lot less obnoxious with his PTPer lines etc. He used to coach so he has good observations. Plus he was the third wheel as they had two color guys. Just think of him as the Lee Corso of college FB.

The first ten minutes of the game were tough to listen to. I put it on mute for the rest of the first half after that. Dont need to hear Dykes call us Roll Tide and dont need to hear Karl 82-82 Ravich either.

Ravich was making excuses for Kentucky all night. Same as he did when he called our game against Texas a week and a half ago. Not sure what his deal is but he’s a prick. Jimmy Dykes purposely needles us with the Roll Tide stuff.

Agreed on Dickie V. Glad that he’s cancer free. But he is flat out obnoxious. His nickname is Duke Vitale because he’s a Duke homer and is friends with Coach K.

Yeah he got in some line about Duke being the only team in the country top 5 in offensive and defensive efficiency. What did that have to do with Bama Kentucky?

Where is Duke in strength of schedule Dickie?

Kinda nice to see the board all come together after a big win and agree on two things.

frick Cancer, and frick Dick Vitale.

All three of the announcers were horrible last night. I absolutely detest Dykes. All of sudden, ESPN puts Alabama hating Karl Ravich on with him. And for good measure, they add in Dick Vitale to the complete the clown show. Dykes always has to get in the line about Oats potentially taking another job. Totally unprofessional considering that Dykes is closely associated with the Arkansas basketball program.

had to watch the game late last night because of work, has there ever been a player who went from a ..." you dumbass" to "oh hell yeah" "to frick yeah" in about 5 seconds?
Sears had a stupid attempt at a lob for Omoruyi, but then stole the pass and buried a 3 all in 4 to 5 seconds

Philon had several of those type of plays last night, too. If we’d just quit with the dumbass turnovers we could be even better than we are.

Philon had 5 turnovers and most of them were careless ball handling or incorrect passing decisions off the screen. I do prefer the 3 guard lineup with him instead of an additional power forward though. He's really just been playing through an injury for most of the SEC schedule. I think he'll get his groove back and when he does it is one of the big factors in Alabama really making a run in the tourney.

He also needs to immediately regroup and get back. Everytime Philon has a turnover or misses a close range shot, he kind of freezes up, grimaces, claps his hands together, looks around for a second and then resumes play. But it's like he has an automatic reaction habit where he loses focus for a few seconds.

Vitale was there for the pro Kentucky angle.
Dykes was there to plug the ensuing Arkansas Missouri game
Ravich was there to just be annoying.

That Sears was the NPOTY version we were hoping for. Let’s keep it rolling against State.

When he isn’t getting bodied and held on the pick and roll action or being defended by an elite defender with length that’s what he is.
