This is already Year 4 for him. School has started.

He's losing this year regardless.

True, and spending a year here does him no good. All he does is risk getting injured.

There is no "loyalty test" here. Any team looking to recruit him from the portal knows they're getting him for one year only, and he's already stuck with our head coach for multiple years.

The only kind of teams he could go to and grab a starting job in mid-August are not the kind of teams it would benefit him to start for.

Incorrect. Being a Starting QB with a year of film is more beneficial to him than being a backup QB with next to none.

If he stays here and Russell gets hurt or ends up just being a practice star he's the starter for what should be a pretty good team. If Russell lives up to the hype he gets to play a ton of garbage time snaps and audition to be one of the most sought after QBs in the portal. It's far better for him to stick around.

Whole lot of "ifs" here.

Does him no good besides earning a million dollars to hold a clipboard? He’s a professional athlete. He was given a chance to be a starter and he is being compensated regardless of how it played out.

If you were up for a promotion and you didn’t get it but still received a major raise, would you quit your job and be unemployed for a year? Because that’s what you’re saying he should do

In today's world of NIL (which I hate). Staying for a million looks mighty fine. He could get hurt or he could be the starter after any snap if KR gets hurt.

Aside from the whole "getting to be the starter if Russell gets hurt" thing?

Except the only kind of teams he could join two weeks before the season and actually start for are going to be NAIA or JuCo programs and the film will pretty much be disregarded as a result.

And all of them have a higher probability of happening than Mack transferring anywhere in August and getting on the field because they have starters and he doesn't know the playbook.
