I think Milroe is a lock for next year.
But what happens with Ty Simpson? The Portal?
Just Sayin.

It’ll sort itself out once the season ends.

Good problem to have. I hope Simpson sticks around and battles for his spot. If so, I think we’ll have one of the best QB rooms in college football. We still don’t know for sure if Milroe comes back.

You really think Milroe jumps? What would he go? Late 2nd? That doesn't make sense. He could go top ten next year.

The dream would be Milroe 2024, Simpson 2025 and then Lonergan/Sayin battle 2026.
That’s wishful thinking, though. Odds are Simpson hops into the portal along with maybe even Holstein.

Milroe should make plenty of nil money to stick around one more year to increase his draft stock.

That's not my dream. Sayin in '25. He's got NFL written all over him. The best we've ever brought in.

No, but we don’t know for sure yet. I think he definitely needs another year before heading to the NFL. He’s nowhere near ready to be an NFL starter. I didn’t think AR15 from Florida was anywhere near ready either though

The only way I'd transfer would be if '24 was going to be my last year of eligibility. Otherwise, the competition to start in 2025 will be wide open.
Better to possibly learn a new system and potentially start at Arkansas State or stick with the premier program in college football knowing 1 big year as a starter is all it takes to become a first round draft pick?

That’s a bold statement. Hopefully he’s that guy and I love his ability but it might not be immediate like everyone always thinks.
Simpson has looked good as the year goes on. He was a 5 star recruit too. You’re going to turn your nose up at the chance to start a 4th year Ty Simpson after moving on from Milroe? A guy that would hypothetically wait his turn and knows the offense?
If Sayin is that dude then he’ll find his way on the field and we’ll see how it plays out…all I’m saying is I’m not ready to just shoo away Simpson or Lonergan so quickly. As much as I like Sayin I also really like the other two.
It’d be a great problem to have but as most of us think it most likely won’t matter. Ty probably jumps in the portal assuming Milroe returns(I think it’s pretty obvious he comes back…he’s not ready). Highly touted players like him in his situation are going to be pressured to test the NIL waters. Hard to turn that down.

Everyone always loves the shiny new recruit
I think the most likely scenario is that Simpson transfers (which is unfortunate), Milroe '24, Holstein transfers and then Lonergan / Sayin '25.

In 2023 nothing shocks me, but Milroe leaving for the NFL this year would be a pretty big surprise. It's a pretty front loaded QB draft this year with Williams, Maye, Daniels, and Penix all looking like good first-round bets. With a strong finish to the year, Milroe probably will be getting a good bit of buzz for the 2025 draft heading into next season.

Yea, if anybody is a textbook case of coming back with a chance to earn millions over an offseason it's Jalen. He's proven to America he has NFL physical tools and has also proven he can improve at things during the season. Now he has an offseason to see if he can improve on the rest of his game (reading defense pre-snap, quick decisions post-snap, better integration of run vs stick around looking to pass, etc).
If he does, he'll be a Top 2-3 round pick (with a chance at the 1st round if everything progresses). If he doesn't, he'll still probably be drafted somewhere in the middle rounds. Either would be higher than this year.

Tools are there to be a first-rounder. Main things that have to get better to get there are being quicker working through progressions and better accuracy on the 15-25 yard throws.
Regardless it's crazy that we are saying these things about the guy based on where he was at the start of the year. One of the greatest in-season progressions I've seen.

If Milroe can continue to improve on working through his progressions, his pocket awareness, and anticipation on throws; he will be the best player in the country next year no question.
There are times (quite a few each game) where our pass catchers beat the defender from the jump but by the time the ball gets there (or should be there), it’s too late and the defender has recovered and/or Milroe has looked elsewhere.
Tua was so damn good at anticipating routes/throws. If Milroe can improve this part of his game, defending him will be a nightmare for other teams.

Jalen Milroe is already considered in the top for the Heisman candidate next year. He should stay, but depends on his financial situation.

Alabama’s Jalen Milroe tops this category though a word of caution: He has been in college for three seasons and could turn pro. That seems highly unlikely, even with a good run in the College Football Playoff.
More likely, Milroe will start next season as one of the Heisman favorites after finishing sixth in this year’s voting.

Benched after a home loss to Texas in Week 2, Milroe regained the starting job and led the Crimson Tide to another SEC championship and CFP appearance. He has a rare combination of size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds), speed and arm strength, and he became a more effective pocket passer throughout the 2024 season. Milroe should flourish even more in offensive coordinator Tommy Rees' offense in Year 2.

Milroe could begin '24 as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after a strong close to this season, which included a SEC Championship victory over Georgia. The Texas native accounted for 3,186 total yards and 35 scores this year.

Milroe is doing okay with NIL right now and I'd imagine that only improves this offseason.
