The only game where it even mattered was the NC game and he was given the ball as much as anyone else in the team. The same amount of carries as Damien who was gained ten more yards than him.

I agree with your overall sentiment, but I have no problem with the amount of carries he got at Alabama.

I agree with you that he's a fricking beast though.

And in all likelihood, had Jacobs gotten every carry, he would’ve put up more yards than they got combined.
In a game where our redzone failures were the biggest issue, it might’ve made all the difference having Jacobs out there for every snap (and utilizing him). You never know

Well what we do know is on of the former Bama RB's can't even get active for a week while the other guy is making some noise. Nick is very loyal to those that do things the right way and it is documented for us.

I’m still baffled on why we had a wildcat package for Jacobs for 4th downs yet didn’t use him on the goal line against Clemson. Makes no sense to me and and I think that would’ve made *some* difference.

Annnnnd he was on my bench today. London travel plus Chicago’s defense has shut down all previous RBs.

Not even sure why the Pat's drafted Harris. They are 4 deep at the rb position.

I think that’s part of it, but i think he honestly has a hard time taking a guy’s starting job from him. He clearly feels really bad about it, and only does it in an extreme case like trailing in the NC game.

I think part of it is because if he thinks a guy can get drafted in the middle rounds, he wants that to happen, even if we’ve got a better, younger guy behind him, for the sake of that player’s future.

And he's been inactive the entire season.

Harris will probably take Bolden's spot as that do it all back that covers on special teams too.

Very similar players...

Something else that plays a factor in all of this. Saban likes a RB committee. While college guys all want to be the stud, this committee saves a lot of wear and tear on the body yet still gives them all their props. When they get to the NFL, and are called on to be the "Bell-Cow"....they have fresh legs and aren't beat up and get to show out like Jacobs has done.

I'm really proud of Josh Jacobs.

I remember watching his High School tapes before his Freshman Season and seeing the talent.

Saban doesn't wear Running Backs out.Barely breaks them in.Plenty of tread left for the NFL.

T.J. Yeldon,Mark Ingram,Derrek Henry,Josh Jacobs;all running on Sundays.

Also helps in recruiting to fight the "you can go there and sit on the bench behind XXXX" arguments as well as being able to sell less mileage on their legs when they get to the NFL so hopefully can last longer

Gruden likes to run the ball and is getting Jacobs downhill with mucho touches. I get why Amari Cooper wanted out too. Noway he catches the ball for almost 250 years under Gruden's approach. The NFL is going through the same push and pull between the old pro-set style of power football and the new wave, high flying, spread em out stuff that has taken over the college game. Jacobs got his money and the right scheme to run in.
