His confidence was gone by the end of this season. He was honestly throwing worse at the end of this year than during parts of his freshmen season. I don't think that's cause he regressed. I think his confidence had been shot.

When he underthrew Cal so bad against Clemson, he tapped his chest and looked down. It didn't look like the same on to the next play mentality he's had.

I've always known Jalen to be a composed, confident guy, but it would be going through anybody's head that this would be 2 straight offseasons he would largely be blamed for a title loss. From what we've been told, the OC and all the WRs wanted Tua in. If true, I'm sure Jalen knew that too.

I think that you are spot on. He looked shell-shocked from the get-go against UGA.

I've said this after the game. Jalen looked relieved on the sidelines in the 2nd half.

Jalen is pure class and we are lucky to have him on the team.

He didn't look anymore shell-shocked against UGA than any other team we played this year.

It's just that Uga was able to to use Jalen's weaknesses to their advantage moreso than other teams (minus AU) that we played.

With that said, his attitude was very commendable and graceful with how it transpired. Especially when Rinaldi stuck a damn mic in his face with the most obvious question that everyone watching knew the answer to.

I'm glad to see him get a ring. He has represented the university with nothing but class.

I strongly disagree. He without a doubt looked more poised against MSU, LSU, and just about every other SEC team not named Auburn.

No doubt that would be a good thing but that wasn't the context Huddle and you know it. Sometimes people only look at championships. I think Jalen is as good an ambassador for Bama as it gets.

So what did you mean about Tarkenton? I ask because your post was to me.

Oh, championships? Well hell, there are a lot of great qbs that never won the Super Bowl. Dan Marino comes immediately to mind but I have no idea if he won championships when he was a kid or in high school. I'd guess so, at least at some point but I don't know it. Jim Kelly is another one that never won a Super Bowl. He was an awesome quarterback. I'd take Dan Marino or Jim Kelly over a good number of Super Bowl winning qbs.

No disregard was meant to FT but he will always have an asterisk by his record for the number of super bowls that he lost. Same for Kelly. Great QB's all. Kelly is HOF . My point was Jalen might have had some fans point toward his ship record instead of his career. That's not fair to Jalen. That was my point with reference to FT.

I think its ok to hang the lack of championships around the neck of QBs in the NFL at times because great QBs elevate teams. Its so much different and complex in college & high school.

That said, I'll admit when I saw Jalen mention that, it raised a little red flag inside my head. That doesn't mean that fact had any relevance whatsoever to Jalen's ability to play the position, but it stuck with me for some reason. I just didn't expect it. I remember feeling confident when I first heard that McElroy had never lost a game as a starter. On the flip side, when I saw that Fromm hit a HR in the Little League World Series, that same little red flag popped up in my head even though I knew Fromm had never won a championship either.

One reason that was surprising to me is that his Dad is a coach. I think he coached him in high school. I may be wrong and don't have stats but from practical experience it seems that great high school players whose Dads are career coaches have at some point won it all.

Yeah, but not immediately after the TD. Go back and check his immediate reaction. Jumping and running around...genuine joy.

I don’t remember really trying to read anything from his eyes or words but you know he had some weird emotions going on. It was most likely the first game HE didn’t win for his team since he was like a freshman in HS.

I don't disagree with you but I think he was genuine and his thoughts could have realistically paralleled Papp's. Some relief, some regret". He would have been Alabamas Jim Kelly of big game QB results if Tua and co. Hadn't pulled it out.

Looked exactly like a qb who had 7 200+ yards of passing games in 29 starts.

Again, I disagree. I can cite several instances where he was much better than he was in the first half against UGA, but you know that.

Literally 75% of his games backup the whole struggles with passing theory. Sure some games were much better than others, but you'd be very hard pressed to find many of those performances vs a uga caliber defense. I'll give him credit for pulling or arse out of the fire vs miss state. They were a top 10-15 overall defense.

He passed the ball much better against LSU as well. He wasn't incredible against LSU, but it was worlds better than that first half performance against UGA. I agree with you that he never truly turned the corner against upper-echelon defenses, but he was especially bad against UGA.
