I’m not going to play four years of “lt’s Everybody but Jalen’s Fault”.

Next you’ll start talking about the “drops” and trying to add them back into the completion percentages.

Nice deflect and truly shows your football knowledge.

Jalen was a very tiny part of that loss.

This shite is stupid

He was the qb.

1 of 13 3rd down conversions.

Zero points on two short field turnovers.

99 plays to 66.

Who do you think your kidding.

Ever hear of a guy named Steve Sarkisian? He was the one calling the plays.

Steve Sark, sorry bud. Steve panicked when Bo went down plain and simple. Went away from our strength.

I think Tagovailoa is the better all around qb, and comments like this don't make me think he'll be around if it doesn't work out here for him. I wouldn't blame him. He's too good to sit on the bench for 3 years.

“It gets me excited that Coach Saban does stick with his claim that the best will play in every situation,” Tagovailoa said...“In a year, in a perfect world I still believe I’ll be at Alabama if everything works out the right way.”

USA Today

edit: Course, the Hurts or Tagovailoa topic has been beaten to death this season, but this thread and the other will probably go on for a few days.

Did you just quote something from last year and pretend it was from this year? That was during the recruiting cycle, and guess what, he's here. That year he spoke of ends right now.

Yes. In another thread I clearly said it was after he committed. Unless his attitude about it has changed, it makes no difference if he said it this time last year or a week ago. My guess is that after this season he will talk with Saban and see where he stands. My further guess is that Saban will reassure him, as he obviously suggested when Tagovailoa was being recruited, that he'll have a chance to be the starter next season. In that case, I suppose Tua will go through spring training and see how it shakes out.

It's just not like it used to be. The blue chip athletes want to play now. I don't blame them. I said last year that Barnett would transfer if he thought he wouldn't have a real chance at Alabama, and I've seen enough of Tagovailoa to know he's way the hell better than Barnett.

Yep the shite never ends...And it's sad. I love Tua but spare me and us the greatest prospect in Bama history hyperbole. I believe he will stick, he knew what he was getting into when he came here. U don't wanna compete get the hell out... Barnett did and look at him now. Talent dsnt mean you're a can't miss and coach knows that. But hey, what does he know?

But I never said that. Talk about hyperbole, yours is a very good example, or you're just slinging shite and hoping something sticks.

And huddie I apologize, that greatest prospect in Bama history didn't come from u...I know that . The point is there is more to being a QB than talent . Intangibles matter to coach and jalen has improved regardless of what some think. Can he be better? Of course. I think he will because he has the intelligence and the work ethic.

One thread starter declares Hurts starter for life.

You may mean me. Although I said until he leaves.

If Jalen keeps progressing you may need to pay close attention to who we recruit this and next year before you proclaim Tua the starter.

If we get a taller version with Tua's quick release. Jalen's running and physical strength. IQ of a coaches son and quality character. The grit of a kid like Coker. How do we make him sit?

Too many ifs? I got more but what's the point. Not many are gonna change their opinions, especially if they've invested a great deal telling everyone why Tua may leave for more playing time.
I'm just enjoying that we have good quarterbacking.

So if Jalen throws for, say, 250 yds/3TDs and runs for 80-100 and another TD; but we lose a shootout then Tua has the job? Is that what some of y'all are saying?

I was as skeptical as anyone about the kid before the season started. It's obvious that the kid has grown both in the physical throwing of the football as well as the mental aspects of the position.

I would posit that the punt returner position has made more errors that could possibly lose us a game than our QB on 1/20th the opportunities. Damn sure hasn't made any plays to win us a big game. Yet I don't see near the angst over who'll be muffing punts in the Iron Bowl.

These same posters were defending Holcombe.

Yet if Jalen missed one pass they want him benched and transferred to FCS

Things are getting a bit twisted here. In reality, we have a few Hurts zealots calling for a special status for a particular player, “starter in perpetuity.”

It is amazing how Hurts is allowed years to “develop”, while every off the mark Tua pass draws its on thread.

In realty, there is no anti-Hurts sentiment. It’s more like an anti-Tua hysteria. And I don’t get that because they are both Bama guys.

I reject that a starting quarterback has to “do something to lose his status” or else remain the starter. In fact, I don’t even know what it means. But when we go along and acknowledge that a national title might make Jalen untouchable practically speaking, there is even an uproar at that, as though nothing would justify an off season completion, even a loss to Auburn.

And I called Tua the best Bama qb prospect in history and I’m standing by it. This is not Barnett. It’s not AJ. And it’s not just another frosh QB. And with all respect, those who continue to discuss this topic from that perspective, that Tua ain’t nothing special, are quite honestly in for a rude awaking. I just hope it’s not watching Tua raise a Heisman as a USC Trojan while we just miss titles every year under Hurts.

My hope and conviction is that Saban knows damn well what he has in Tua and has planned for an all out competition this coming spring and fall all along. I’m sure he feels Hurts is the best option to win it this year. But have know doubt that Saban doesn’t crown or christen players or declare them untouchable as some do on message boards. And he will not let this great qb prospect slip through his hands out of some misplaced sense of loyalty.

No one is calling for special status. You guys are just moronic and repetitive which is annoying.

You have a pathological need to make things personal on here. No one is trying to insult you or steal anything from you by favoring one player over another. Take it down a notch.

Again I love Tua...But I hope he dsnt take his ball and go if he can't win the job. As I mentioned earlier if u don't wanna compete get the hell out. Jalen beat out 2 more highly ranked qbs which might be an indictment moreso on recruiting evaluations than anything. He has intangibles and a great work ethic. If Tua is as great as we think or hope then he ll win the job , no excuses. Anyone who thinks coach isn't playing the best guy hasn't watched our teams this past decade. The best guy plays , but it's more than just talent that goes into that
