My bad. Your OP wasnt bashing him. Ive just seen a few posts going around calling him selfish or whatever and dont want to see the fanbase go down that route if he does decide to transfer.

The realistic point of going to college is to set yourself up for a successful career. Some people major in law, some in medicine, some in football. A law degree from Harvard will typically result in a better career practicing law than a degree from Southern. Bond is majoring in wide receiver and they can better their odds with a great quarterback. It’s a pretty dependent position. Our current QB took nearly 50 sacks this season and a substantial amount of them were of his own making. Ewers will be the projected #1 pick in next years draft. I hate to lose Bond, especially since he’s arguably been immortalized at this legendary football institution, but putting myself in his shoes I understand his thought process

He dead to me, unless they bring him back. Then it is 007 bitches!

Stop… Ewers won’t be the number 1 pick or the projected number 1. He’s all over the place. He’s played great in some games, and certainly against us, but other games he missed a ton of throws. There was an ongoing push for Manning including in the CFP. He might go to another QB controversy.

It seems like he may just exploring other opportunities by entering the portal. If I understand it correctly he can engage with other teams but could still decide to remain at Bama. Maybe he just needs to hear from DeBoer about how he intends to feature him and his offensive philosophy but wants to see what his options are given the new coach and that Milroe is still a work in process.

You can say whatever you want. He stayed at Bama through the first portal window. It closed and he was still here. Saban leaves, it opens, he enters.
Only a dumbass could conclude it was because of the QB.

Ewers will absolutely be in consideration for the #1 pick. The other projected first round QBs are Drew Allar and Shedeur Sanders. There will probably be more than 3 and there’s a good chance one of those 3 isn’t it, but Ewers will have all the weapons and a great coach. He will certainly be in the conversation. No need to deny reality. I want Bond to stay too.

He won’t make it through the year. He’s been injured in both seasons. I think Arch comes in a plays well. No chance Sark puts a manning back on the bench.

Speaking of QBs,we have a new coach coming in. Who says he cain’t look around and play the best Qb that will give the team a chance to win. Even if it is a true freshman?

Already promised Will Rogers the job.

Bond’s talents haven’t been properly utilized. I don’t necessarily blame him. He’s one of the fastest football players in the country. Basically a sawed off Jameson Williams. He’s got first round pick potential with a big year. That big year is more likely to happen with Quinn Ewers. I wouldn’t have transferred because I am a gump, but I get it for Bond.
Now, a guy like Ryan Williams would be a complete moron for not coming here. Sayin is far and away the best QB in his class. It’s really why I’m not going to be terribly distraught if he goes to the barn. Whomever we get at receiver will be able to run fast and jump high. It’s Alabama. The guy delivering the ball is a lot more important. I love John Metchie. He was a borderline dominant college receiver. That’s because he had Bryce Young throwing him the ball. John probably has 2-3 more years of playing time in the NFL and then 2-3 years of bottom of the roster duty. 3 years from now you’ll have elite junior receivers transferring to Bama to play with Sayin. It’s the nature of the sport now
Isaiah Bond is in a position to explode in a Kalen DeBoer offense and an open QB competition next year.
He was stuck with a suspect OL, limited QB and conservative offense which could only call half the plays last year.
I think he would be a 1st rd guy assuming we figure things out at QB.

Apparently they had to talk him out of portaling after last season, too.

I said it might be a bit of both...

The issue last year for Bond was that Bryce had a noodle arm for the 2nd half of the season after his injury and we couldn’t make use of deep pass routes.
What do you do with Henry Ruggs or Jamo Williams when your QB can’t push the ball vertically?

Allar is absolutely horrible
