Mullen would be great for our current QBs. If he comes I think Milroe locks up the starting QB position. I am concerned that Mullen can’t handle Saban chewing his arse out though.

I’m sure a 2 million dollar paycheck will make that a little easier :)

I don't know how I feel about Mullen as OC. On one hand, he is a proven offensive coach who has done a great job at developing QBs, which is highly ideal. On the other hand, he is a "personality" who has a loud mouth and can rub people the wrong way. I suppose it'd be worth the risk.

Bill O'Brien had a terrible player/staff reputation tbh. He was not a well liked coach even when his program was winning more than losing in Houston.

Well, it would only be his fault. That is a known part of the job from team manager to Coordinator and everyone in between, all will catch a choice word or two from CNS if you don't do your job.

I agree if we get Mullen , the chances of Milroe as our starting go up radically. Mullen loves big strong QBs who can run. Just let him worry about the Offense take away all other distractions, give him talent and he could really thrive.

Mullen would be the best OC/QBC option if we wanted to get a bridge year out of Milroe within a scheme that would actually make a title pursuit viable. Also, Mullen's track record with QB development is exactly what we need for a young QB room. 2 or 3 years of Mullen ought to get us back in a stronger position at QB than we are right now. He only needs to recruit QBs and his reputation ought to secure some prospects.

With that said, he's not the only man out there that can maximize a bridge year with Milroe and grows the QB depth chart for 2023 and forward. BUT he is a pretty obvious one...

Milroe as qb to go with a Golding defense seems like a recipe for 8-4 imo.

If that’s the case we need to get in the portal after Hartman from Wake Forest.

Milroe won't be starting qb next year.
Mullin will not be our OC.

Hartman isn’t a better option than starting Simpson. He’s also already ND bound and has been for a month+ now

I would rather have Freeze than Mullen. There's something about Mullen that puts me off. His interactions with players on the sideline idk. I just don't like him.

Mullen is actually a pretty nice guy if you talk to him in person. He's definitely a bit weird, I'd say kind of like those kids in high school that were overly nerdy and kind of socially awkward. I've had the chance to have a few long conversations with him (usually not about football, but it did come up) and he always was pleasant, interesting and kind of funny.

There are other coaches I'd probably want before him, but anyone who can take Mississippi State to #1, though briefly, can't be terrible at their job.

Certainly the upstanding and ethical Notre Dame Fighting Irish would not have had impermissible contact through back channels!

I’m not sold on Milroe either tbh. I have no clue who the OC will be though.

You thought Kirby did a scorched earth policy when he left, Mullen would be 2x worse. NEXT!

You also said DeVonta Smith wouldn’t win the heisman.

But you’re not really going out on a limb with them two guesses. But leave the saw in the tool shed just in case.

What does that mean “leave the saw in the tool shed”?

Ty Simpson would kill it in Mullens offense. People forget he is super athletic, as well and has a very good arm.

He also took Kyle trask and averaged over 500 yards in total offense in 2020. I’d love to see what he could do with our weapons
