I say it because there have been posts on this board that have said he should have done what Rees did and dumbed his offense down enough for Milroe to handle. Which might have given us transitory, temporary success but would have been damaging in the long run IMO.

I don't recall seeing many people complain about him not tailoring the offense to the personnel. If anything the complaints were about trying to force the issue with Milroe even though he couldn't do much of anything this staff wants the QB to do. I mean when you're resorting to using your RBs like a FB on designed QB runs because the QB can't actually execute a simple zone read, there isn't an offense you can build that's going to make much sense.

Agree with this, I said offense but it was more about Millroe, but of course the offense starts with the QB.
But it’s reason for concern if the reason he kept forcing the issue with Milroe is he doesn’t think anyone else on the roster is capable of doing it.

I could end up being totally wrong, but I think that the Milroe continuing at QB thing was a combination of the fact that there wasn't a slam dunk other option combined with Milroe's position with the locker room. It wasn't entirely one or the other, but they weren't going to risk (in year 1) destroying things internally with a guy that might be better but also might not.
Now, you'd prefer Ty be clearly better, but I don't think it means Ty stinks or can't play. And I also think they clearly thought Mack needed this season to keep learning, so he wasn't even an option.
But year 1 is over, they have their feet under them and it's time to move on and run their system.

Agree on all counts.

Jake Haener threw for over 4000 yards in 2021 in DeBoer's only full season there. They were NOT run oriented.

This makes sense. The hype around Milroe was also absolutely unreal from the media and a segment of the fanbase. It would have been hard to bench someone like that just based on what you're seeing in practice, and the nature of practice likely obscures Milroe's most glaring deficiencies anyway because he's not under actual pressure, there's a coach nearby to hold his hand on what the play is, and much of the time he can just show off his speed and arm strength in drills.

Should have put Ty in vs OU

What offense would he run when all they practice is the offense Milroe runs? Like SOG said, it's time to move past Milroe and DeBoer needs to implement his offense with whichever qb runs it best.

If that’s the case, why consider letting him back for another year? Or even consider a bowl bonus?

One where you're throwing the ball to the right team would have been a good place to start.
