Do people actually believe he's coming back?

I'd love to believe it's a possibility but I'm not that delusional lol. I'd be borderline pissed if he did because it wouldn't make sense. If he came back and we lost some games he'd get the blame by a few dumbass fans and a hack writer

Someone show me a team with great offensive flow that shoots 32.6% (good for 298th in the country) from 3 on mostly open attempts. I'll wait.

Why do y'all think the offensive flow looks great at times and terrible other times? It's because we shoot well from beyond the arc in those games where we look like a well-oiled machine. In games where we shot 40+% from three we averaged 81.5 PPG. Offensive flow is all about spacing. You can't have good spacing unless you shoot a respectable percentage from beyond the arc. You can blame Avery for not getting shooters in place to have good offensive flow, but the offense hasn't looked bad when we hit open shots.

yes, it has ... hitting open shots doesn't mean you have an offense ... petty puts up some bad shots ... when he makes several of them a few times a year, everyone says "great job!" ... we have length and athleticism more than we have shooters, which is fine, but there's not enough flow/movement to get 10 ft shots ... it's usually either sexton penetrating, hall with a put back, or a 3 pt launched, usually as the clock winds down ... i'm not looking for the golden st warriors, but if butler can do it with 3* talent, so can alabama ...

Are you really arguing that hitting open shots isn't crucial to an offense? That's just silly. Not sure what your point is on Petty, he missed way more of his open shots than his contested shots. His contested shots were typically heat checks after he made an open 3.

Any decent defense can prevent a team from getting "10 ft shots" if they don't have to defend the 3pt line. Not sure 10 ft shots are the focus of any offense, but still applies. Once again, our offense looked good when we force the defense to respect the 3.

Still waiting on someone to give me an offense with regular good flow and a terrible 3pt%...

Obviously having more shooters makes any offense look good, but 3 guys standing around watch a post player set a screen for the guy with the ball isn't really innovative either.

Which came first, the poor shooting, or the lack of offensive movement?

I'd say so. Probably pretty similar projection from last year honestly. We've got most other guys coming back but I'm not going out on a limb saying anyone makes a big jump other than petty (simply because I don't see a slump like he had this year)

It would be different if we were missing mostly contested shots, but we were missing wide open shots the heavy majority of the time. Again, I'm not saying the offensive flow is great, but we have very good flow when we hit threes at a respectable percentage. Obviously a team with elite shooters is going to improve an offense regardless of it's movement, but I'm not saying we were just not elite enough from 3 to have a good offense, we just were too terrible from 3 to have a good offense. We shot the 298th ranked percentage from 3 out of the 351 teams. That's insanely bad and almost miraculous for a tournament team. There aren't any good offenses in that range.

we had a semblance of an offense those few games when he was out. When he returned it looked like everyone was waiting on Sexton to do his thing so they could figure out where to be. Sexton is a great player, no doubt. But he had way too many turnovers and way too few assists in many games to call him elite. We need a well rounded PG who makes the others around him great.

This nonsense about being better without Sexton is legitimately some of the dumbest shite I've ever seen from a fanbase prone to saying a bunch of dumb shite. He looked great despite being surrounded by a bunch of guys who couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.

my expectations would be less wins with no dancing. the freshman sexton that spent a lot of energy driving the lane 1 on 3 or 1 on 4 with little expectation of a kick-out pass, would be even more emboldened to keep the ball even more. thereby, giving less and less to TEAM. with the end results being less wins.

I'm stupidly starting to think he may come back. Lol. I'm hoping he does but like anyone else I wish nothing but the best if he does declare
