Watches game film and helps formulate gameplans. I think he is also allowed to help recruit when recruits are on campus. His primary activity is cashing those fat checks from UTk every month though.

Reducing Tennessee to ashes?

Pruitt should be thrown a parade in Tuscaloosa when he returns to the staff.

The place on the hill is burning faster than I suspected or could hope for. The BOT is a house divided. Since the great pumpkin got the boot it has been chaotic. Not just about HC hires but they have gone through a number of ADs and Chancellors and other members of the University hierarchy. They can't agree on who they want to take the reigns and they've spent a good amount of time taking turns sabotaging each one's efforts to get it straightened out. Their mega booster, Jimmy Haslem, can't keep politics out of the equation.

Pruitt would have known about all this disfunction before he took the job. Unless he was promised total autonomy, like Nick Saban, and I'm sure he wasn't. I think he's caught up in the gears like everyone else. The next HC they hire better have, all-power, and a strong personality to boot. Otherwise, he'll just be baling water like the rest on the good ship Titanic.

That reminds me of Roy Adams, who was fond of trying to irritate Alabama fans during the ncaa fiasco by calling UT "The Shining Beacon On The Hill".

Kind of a shame he can't be around to see this.

Oh well. There is still Walt. By the way, where's Walt?

quote: No. This is one example of many. No one appreciates the job Golding is doin, while hamstrung with this defensive front. Does no one understand context? Pruitt had much, much, MUCH MORE to work with. This is BS. If they are on scholarship they are your players and you as a coach should be able to win with them. Period. This is Alabama not some division 3 school. Everyone on scholarship can play. So, Golding is going to get judged like every other DC whether you like it or not

Absolutely not. Experience still matters. Hugh school guys may be studs, but very, very few come in ready to play at the college level. 1. Size - they may be big a strong, but few are strong enough. 2. Fundamentals - they are athletes and skilled, but very few have the fundamentals needed. These have to be trained in. 3. Mental toughness- there is a reason why Saban hires Elko. Even seniors still need his guidance. Certainly freshmen do. 4. Schemes - this isn’t high school where a big athletic guy just runs over everyone. Everybody has big talented guys. You can’t dominate a college player like you would many high schoolers. G5 teams can be tough, lots and lots of 5 th year seniors who couldn’t jump after Jr year but who are going to be drafted. That extra year makes them very good.

Our younger guys are going to have to get confidence and learn the schemes. After that, it’ Katie bar the door.
