I think DeBoer did a great job pretending he wasn’t irritated with this season.

You could still see it in his eyes, but that man did a pretty good job. Our offense will look NOTHING like this next season. He was 100% limited by QB capabilities to read and react in the pocket.
This offense requires a true pocket QB not just an athlete with a cannon. Hope this helps.

Agree. I think you can read between the lines of some f his comments and did a great job of not throwing any players under the bus regarding performance in certain games

I don’t think you can say he did a good job overall. Certainly plenty of good moments, but the Oklahoma and Vandy games were such a disgrace that that’s what people will remember most about this team. Missing a 12 team playoff with 27 5 star recruits is not the standard here. I hope CKD succeeds here but overall year one was a failure.

Do any of you realize his coached mistakes are why we lost to Vandy?
We were underprepared for Oklahoma. That is coaching as well. Milroe just turned to trash (per usual) when things don't start working.
KDB doesn't need to look at Milroe because Milroe won't be around for people who don't understand football to blame everything on him next season.
KDB needs to sort out that staff. Starting with getting his DC some damn help, firing our ST coach and hiring the many analyst Saban had on staff which KDB let go because he didn't understand how much he needed more perspectives

I dont understand how you don’t have analysts in the booth breaking down the good and bad while the game is going on and giving info to the coaches. Hell, the fans can see most of the things that need changed during the game. Did he really fire all of the analysts? I bet Oats has a bunch of guys giving him printouts at every tv timeout.

Not sure what's with the downvotes so far. I do agree. Of course, it was his first year here. He better show poise. He's paid a lot to do it.

One of the first things KDB did was let go of that horde of analyst we had.
I'm sure we had a couple people but with teams as big as our in a competition like ours there is a reason why Saban had analyst stockpiled like he had talent.
Anyways, I just hope he learned a lesson this season.

I'm of this mind too. Do you doubt for one second that Nick Saban would have this same roster with Bond instead of Bernard and Downs instead of Sabb in the 2 seed right now even with his shoddy staff? I don't. Granted, it is unfair to compare a mortal coach to the GOAT but this team clearly could have been a bit better than 9-3 even with the turnover.
I will say that the 12-team playoff is so encumbered by bullshite to appease all the low rent fiefdoms in college football, that it is fair to note that everyone thought Alabama was the 12th best team even with their head-arse logic but the structure for determining the bracket is bad. However, the fact that we were on the fringe exposing the shortsightedness of this structure rather than comfortably in the field after winning or losing the SECCG is 100% on two unforgivable turds laid on the football field.

I don't begrudge this in abstract. He likely had no ties to these analysts and couldn't trust their analysis like the Saban regime could. Now if he's rawdogging SEC game planning with no cadre of analysts then, yep, we have a problem. I do not know if that is the case.

CKD offense was Brian Grubb. I don't think we have an identity and that's why we seemed to struggle with a consistent game plan.

Pretty sure you mean Ryan Grubb. And no the offense is DeBoer's. Grubb may have called plays as the OC but the playbook is DeBoer's.

I doubt a wakeboarder like Brian Grubb was in charge of DeBoer’s offense

You're talking to a Milroe fan. These people couldn't pour water out of a boot if you wrote the instructions on the heel.

Grubb hasn't been that impressive in Seattle. He may be coming back to DeBoer by year 3 to be quite honest.

One thing is for sure, we'll definitely find out if he's the man for the job next year.

Agreed. I know Milroe is extremely limited but he signiciantly regressed from last year to this year and the defense had two atrocious games along with some other below average performances.

JFC what a post. No it isn’t Ryan Grubbs offense. It’s because he DOES NOT have a qb for his system. Guys this isn’t hard. And papa Milroe, ystar or whatever, that’s not a knock on milroe.

Bingo.
My take is Nick explained to him right off the bat what he had in this roster to contend with for 2024. Kalen then chose to ride with it instead of blowing it up. If in fact what we saw was the very best Kalen has to offer, then Byrne and the high dollar folks best be working on securing buyout money.

Then why didn’t he get Simpson more reps?

Right or wrong, I am giving Kalen year one due to the QB situation.
He is on the clock starting Jan 2 2025.
