So I guess Tua sucks too since he’s been surrounded by great talent this whole time by this logic. I guess that explains the opening pick 6 against Clemson last year. You have it all figured out.

Again, go watch some football. Mac Jones consistently underthrows and throws behind his receivers. In fact, I'd argue more of his throws are off the mark than are on - by a decent margin. He was protected by play calling and bailed out by his receivers and RB.

Mac had a 68.8 completion percentage. What are you talking about?

I gave you an upvote for effort, but Jones is actually better than Guarantano. Also, Bentley lives in Utah, now.

He's not an accurate passer by any stretch of the imagination, and has been known to score more points for the opposing team than their margin of victory, but he's still better than Guarantano.

Lol ok. Idk what stat you want to go by. All I know is Mac started 4 games and has only 500 fewer yards and 1 less TD than Kelly Bryant. I’m out. Keep up your freshman phenom dream of Young coming in and single-handedly winning the championship next year. Maybe it’ll happen, but your not going to prove to many that Mac sucks.

Sounds like most of his throws were within a few yards from the LOS.

Your problem is you're comparing Mac Jones to Tua, which is ridiculous. I've watched every guy that you listed there play, and most of them are atrocious. Mac has a small sample size but he's done some really nice things. Is he Tua or Burrow? Of course not. Nobody is suggesting that. But when you start to say stuff like the Kentucky QBs or Jake Bentley or Guarantano (who was benched against VT, by the way) or Plumlee are clearly better than him, it weakens your argument.

Everyone knows he made some really bad decisions/throws against Auburn. He also made some really good plays against them and Michigan. Had to move around in the pocket and make throws under duress at times. Actually read the defense and checked to a second option a few times.

I feel as though this conversation is fruitless because your opinion is based on nothing more than the fact that you have made your mind up that Mac Jones is a scrub, and nothing is going to convince you otherwise.

With all of this said, I don't care who the QB is next year. I do think Young will get a fair shot because clearly Saban loves the guy - he doesn't rave about high school players like he did Young ever. He showed Waddle some love on NSD but nothing close to the way he gushed over Young. I also don't think Saban has the same connection/affinity for Mac as he did for Jalen, which I think clouded his judgment. I genuinely expect there will be an open QB competition. Young might take it, but I do think Mac at the very least will make it difficult for him. Not simply because he's a veteran, but because he's a pretty talented guy who ALSO has an experience advantage.

Yes, but that was also just one throw.

What will make Mack Jones a better QB is for Bama to have a much much better defense. One that can get off the field with 3 and outs more often than this past deal. Mack doesn't need to feel like he has to score every series. I'm good with a the old game manager deal but that can't happen with the current defense Bama has as of today.

Need to get over the Tua days for they're done. We're back to 2008. You're looking right into the eyes of 9-3 for 2020 unless their is a huge revival on defense.

Unfortunately, I think some in the fanbase have set the hurdle at Tua accuracy, which is going to set them up for a lot disappointment.

I think Mac is a serviceable QB. I think he's probably better than McElroy, better passer than Hurts, not quite AJ, and certainly not Tua.

He will have the off season and spring to improve. And after the improvement everyone witnessed in Joe Burrows this season, maybe Mac can make an improvement leap. Similar to Burrow, he has graduated, so can take as much time as needed to focus on football (online classes shouldn't be too taxing).

Some people are just never going to let the pick 6s in the Auburn game go.

Yeah, the fanbase better adjust their expectations for the offense. We’re going to have to retool and get back to more ball control, by running the football more. Less hurry up and tempo. That will take a lot of unnecessary stress off of the defense and off of Mack or whoever the QB ends up being.
