At a glance those stats are surprising.

It seemed logical to expect that passing game success would loosen up and keep defenses more honest, enabling us to have more success running the ball too.

And, the front-7 was expected to be the strength of our defense while the young secondary was expected to be its weakness in the early part of the season.

I'm guessing running backs are averaging like 2-3 YPC against us. Mond's 2 big runs make up probably 25% of all the rushing yards we've allowed this year.

I'm sure it'll go down. It's just funny to see now.

And we've played 3 solid passing attacks (Arkie St, Ole Miss, A&M). Back 4 have been very good so far, as have the front 4 in pass rush.

Here's the stat you need to be most concerned about:

We have the best coach in college football history that knows how to shape the team around the talent he has at his disposal.

In case you haven't noticed, we've been kind of dominating college football for the last ten years.

Hopefully the offensive line run blocking will improve. I think it will.

Defensively, the lack of the kind of depth we're used to on the line and at linebacker, some due again to injuries, have impacted us there. The young secondary has so far looked good.

Thanks for Tua.

It appeared to me that ATM was stunting a lot with their DL and ILBs -- aiming to take away the inside running game and pressure the QB. They had a pretty good approach and success against our perimeter screens too. It appeared to me our drives that stalled were the ones where the play calling was inside runs and perimeter screens. Our successful drives were when the play calling avoided those. We had success passing and running wider, off-tackle. Maybe we should've run off-taclke more instead of inside gaps so much.

ETA: Very good post by Tw1st3d about this.

As a D-coord, youo have to go into a game and take away someones bread and butter....which is our running game. Like we saw all of the past 2 years. Except for this year, we kill'm thru the air...eventlly someone will try to stop that and we will be able to run down their throats.

And it is like Locks trys to get us in 3rd and long to just prove a point...IDK <--- that was sarcasm, sorry if it wasn't obvious!! lol

Kind of like when Bama doesn't finish #1 in recruiting.

You started a thread titled, "I have no idea who we are anymore." Those are obvious "freaking out" words. Another guy called you "worried" or whatever. If this was not what you were going for, you failed miserably and should have chosen your words much differently.

LOL ok prevatt. Next time I'll be sure not to let another guy call me something.

I was going for "this flip in stats is crazy isn't it". Hope I didn't fail!

"We're still going to pound the rock this year. Saban will never just let the passing game open up with Tua" - Said by almost every Bama fan

I told you Saban was going to let it fly this year early and then finish teams with the run game(need to get better with that obviously). Saban is going to run whatever offense best suits his team. He has a basic philosophy but he's not stubborn like Harbaugh.
