You're not going to get through to some of these people. Father Time catches up with everybody in sports and Saban is no different. It's obvious he doesn't coach with the same fire that he did years ago

Yea let’s fire his old arse. He’s only won six NC his last was damn two years ago. He only got to the championship game last year but couldn’t win it. Time for him to go. I’m sure there’s another 7 time national championship coach begging for the job.

No one wants him to be fired.

We want him to put a foot in the arse in the players and coaches who aren't performing to our standard.

Honestly, I'd say its not how he treats players these days. But how he is handling coaching. 5 years ago he would have never put up with some of the boneheaded coaching errors by coordinators. Now, well BOB was given a second year and we've seen the inconsistencies of Pete

Sure we may have missed a few recruits, but this is still a very talented team and good coaching can mask some of those shortcomings. We don't have that in some areas. BOB's inability to gameplan or exploit mismatches is mind-boggling

Maybe give up Fox News?! When this is the first thing you can think of after a game like this, try harder.

The team played sloppy undisciplined ball today... And most of last season, tbh. This isn't what we have been trained to accept... Now that we speak up about it and try to hold the coaches accountable, some of y'all want us to just shut up and accept a win while playing like garbage?! Hell no. That's not what this program USED to be about. Remember the old make his arse quit speech?! We haven't been that team in a few seasons. We need to get back to that mentality, because Georgia is. Hell, Kentucky and Tennessee are working towards it.

The players are a reflection of their coaches. The coaches failed today, but superior talent won, in spite of the crappy coaching.

Jan/Feb/March every year Saban tells you what his concerns are for the team the following year. If he goes to JUCO and/or now the portal there is a significant issue with that position group. If there is a coaching change, that usually means a teaching/development issue.

OL - he recruits 2 ~ 3 years in advance. If he has to go to the JUCO/Portal they messed up bad in recruiting and/or development. If a player reaches year 3 without being in the rotation and the coach has not been changes - big recruiting miss. This year we have a 6th year guy starting for his first time at OG and a portal guy starting at LT. That is 3 years of misses and/or bad coaching hires in the OL group.

WR - if a player is not in the rotation by at least end of year 2, they were likely a recruiting miss. Otherwise the coach has just been replaced for teaching/development issues.

Saban does not like to bring in RB's from JUCO. They will have missed 2 years of teaching them to block and read for pass pro.

Any time someone is brought in to start (not having been developed in his system) that is a problem. They are not likely to catch up until at least their 2nd year in the system.

How many of us think that #80 this year is a better player than Devonta was at WR? Devonta did not become a significant contributor until the end of his freshman year. #80 started game 1 and did not even report until 3 months before that 1st game.

We have had development issues and/or recruiting failures at OL / DL / ILB / CB / WR for several years. There is only 1 person that is connected to all of those areas of concerns. His problems appear to likely be staff choices and negative recruiting against his age.

I hope some of you had to much to drink.

I’m a fan because I enjoy the game and it’s entertainment. I post here because I enjoy it and it’s entertaining.

This team is attempting a 3 peat as SECChamps and trying to make the CFP championship game for the third year in a row, and hopefully winning 2 out of 3.

I knew the WR corps was going to be a problem unless someone really stepped up, which they failed to do today.

I was more optimistic with the OL, but they were not very good today either.

I knew Texas was much better than most on here believed, and a Vegas point spread doesn’t mean a thing other than setting a differential that will get half the ignorant public masses to bet on one team and the other half on the other team.

I thought we would win by 7-9 points, but we have no deep threat so far. Bond dropped a pass that hit him right in the hands and Prentiss made a mistake on a route that caused the pass to be behind him. Both would have been big first downs. Those are correctable.

Last year, I think Saban did one of his better coaching jobs by winning the SEC and making the playoff with that OL and the injuries we had. I’m optimistic that he can get us there yet again.

I disagree totally that a loss is what we needed. Sometimes you can grow more by overcoming in a situation like today. Sometimes maybe a loss is, but just because fans spend hours upon hours on message boards obsessing about a sport doesn’t mean they know which situation will cause a team to grow the most.

The thread started from a perspective that Saban is fading.

Has he lost a step? Probably, he’s 70. But he’s still better than almost every coach out there.

I agree with George, the concerning thing is it did feel like Florida or LSU from last year, but I will enjoy the drama of how another college football season unfolds watching the best who has ever done it coach Alabama.

Saban is not above criticism, but the sky screaming in this thread which followed a divisive OP implying that Saban was now Paterno or Bowden at the end of their tenures makes some of you look like what fans of other SEC teams call Bammers.

If Saban is fading, let him. He’s given us so much.

Remember when the HUHN was the end of him?

You Fox News watching fricktards are easy to spot. Saban might be declining, but if he is, it's because he's 70 years old, not some stupid "kids these days..." retarded fricking shite.

Your post is just as dumb as the OPs. Good grief guys, get a grip. Bama is fine.

It was not a good performance, we had 15 penalties, we looked like a 3 or 4 loss team. It will get corrected or it will be a disappointing year. Texas is the second most talented team we have on our schedule this year, and the most talented just lost to App. State. We need to practice hard and play well the next two weeks and get ready to play a tough Arky team on the road. Did Ricks play yesterday? I don’t remember seeing him on the field.

It happens every year. I think people have unrealistic expectations sometimes like we want everything to be perfect every game. This is the second game of the season not the sixth or seventh game.

Ricks didn't play...

#1 team in the country, coached by the best coach in our lifetime, with players from the best recruiting classes year over year...

I expect a hell of a lot better than what we saw yesterday. Yesterday was just unexcusable. That was the most unprepared, poorly coached, mess that Saban has put on the field in a long time.

If that was up to Saban's standards, then he's getting too soft or his coordinators aren't up to the job.

We all know that Saban will retire at some point. Age catches everyone. I'm not saying this is the time... I'm saying that I hope we never get into a situation in the future like FSU got in with Bowden...holding on too long.

You seem to forget all of those games were neutral site games. This was in a loud, hostile environment. I was in the stadium. It was deafening.

Bogey...Nick Saban & Alabama is still on top after all these years.

Let me make something clear...

Every season a good to great team will have to face adversity but some FOLKS act like that doesn't suppose to happen.

Your one of them!

Examples:
Alabama vs Tennessee 09'
Alabama vs LSU 11'
Alabama vs Texas A&M 12'
Alabama vs Ole Miss 15'
Alabama vs Auburn 17'

These are just some games that reshaped these Bama teams during the season.

Nick Saban & company faced adversity in each of these particular seasons but at the end of the day when it was all said and done each team got better after they were EXPOSED if you will.

Nick Saban will get it fixed...It's just the 2nd Game of the season.

I think there is a truth to both sides of this coin. It is evident that coach is aging and has probably lost a step. Unfortunately, time waits for no man. With that said, aside from maybe 2-3 schools in the country, every AD in the power five would drop their guy for ours right now. I honestly believe that Saban has coddled the coordinators a bit too much because he values continuity in a higher regard at this stage in his career. We as fans have gotten so spoiled and entitled under this historic run, that sometimes I think we forget to sit back and enjoy the ride. 8-10 years down the road, good Lord willing, we will look back at these times and smile realizing that as fans, we were apart of the greatest run of all time coached by the greatest coach of all time. Take a step back from the ledge and take it in. Chances are pretty good that no once coach is gone, no one will ever feel like we have felt ever again.
