I’m half convinced being a “great defensive team” is all reputation and once you get to that point you can just foul the shite out of folks

It’s a fun game to play “spot the Houston foul” on every slow mo replay of any random play. There’s always one, sometimes two!

It's as if you just blatantly beat the hell out of the other team at every position the refs almost just become immune

My first post of the game. Houston is playing D like Bama did under Wimp. Long and quick.

Houston games are such a pain in the arse to watch. They play rugby from the opening tip and the refs just let it ride

Think Wimp said once that if every defender fouls every possession they'll only call so many.

Bama won't win unless they shoot a high percentage in the 2nd half.

As I said earlier, Houston plays like a bunch of football players.

Tennessee is the same way. “Physical” defense is just code for hacking so much it puts pressure on the refs, especially when the “physical” team is at home.

Thing is, that doesn’t typically work for 4 games in a row with national audience in NCAAT. Eventually the public outcry cause a crew to call it tighter and then they get beat. Thats what happened last year to Tenn after they bloodied Duke, and then got like 100 fouls against Purdue. People don’t want to watch 50 point half-court slugfests in March, and the refs eventually cave

He should have tried to end the half at the free throw line. Houston is too good defensively for that look. Use their aggression against them and make them foul.
