For what its worth department, on MGOBLOG the Michiganders are dug in more than you might realize. The true bluers are spending their time counting Alabama COVID cases on campus and hoping for the worse. So goes politics and football. I guess that's what you do when decisions have already been made for you and you're left as a football fan to live emotionally with the results. Kind of glad hope is still alive.

Main reason I support a return to Articles of Confederation.

Wow! That is sad. But there is also a thread on the OT Lounge of an LSU fan gloating over the new cases at UA too. Yet, we are called the lunatic fringe fanbase. Nobody ever says a peep when these other schools fans say something or do something awful, but God forbid a Bama fan sneezes wrong and it's national news

Wow, not even an unnamed source to protect his/her identity, but a source who allegedly heard from someone else Whitmer was the roadblock.

Classic Brietbart.

It could be true, I have no idea. The reporter could have at least corroborated what this person heard from someone else to give it more credibility.

For the love of God, is this not confirmed by a legitimate source?

I mean, did you click on the original article? Because the original article just says that there are currently 4 teams willing to play who are trying to recruit 2 more teams to play a proposed 6 team, 10 game season but Michigan's governor is opposed to their plan so it is unlikely that Michigan or Michigan State will participate and they will have to find two other schools. Naturally Breitbart has to portray this as "librul Michigan governor stands in way of Big Ten season!?!?!" even though calling that even a half truth is being generous.

I'm a conservative and hate CNN and liberal media posting with a passion, but I also realize that Breitbart articles are often not to be fully believed, either.

However, I can believe Whitmer would prevent football from being played in her state

I don't think you did. Otherwise you'd have read this:

quote:

According to Ohio State insider Jeff Snook, Gene Smith and several other Big Ten athletic directors are working behind the scenes to create a six-team, 10-game season.

There are 14 teams in the Big Ten. 4 of them (Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska, and Iowa) are on board with that plan. 2 of them (Michigan and Michigan State) aren't going to be able to because Michigan's governor opposes games being played in the state of Michigan this fall. That leaves 8 more teams who could be #s 5 & 6 on the schedule. An accurate headline would have been "Michigan Governor Reportedly Stands in Way of Wolverines and Spartans Playing in Condensed Big Ten Season". Breitbart of course goes with "Report: Gretchen Whitmer the Lone Governor Holding Up Big 10 Football Season", which is both factually inaccurate (they do not have any confirmation that all other governors of states with Big Ten schools approve of having a football season) and incredibly misleading.

“I also was also told that one roadblock to the new plan is the fact that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been vehemently opposed to football being played – at the high school and college level – in the state this fall,” Snook said. “Ohio Governor Mike DeWine gave his blessing to all sports being played this fall on Tuesday.”

odd, how you didnt quote this part. but hey i get it, you hate breitbart. whatever it takes to trash breitbart and make your point, right.

She has caved to the pressure. Michigan has already reversed on high school football. Sounds like Sir Yacht will be the one who is correct, and all the ESPN boys, will look like bozo's. So if they vote to play today, will ESPN say, as first reported by Sir Yacht, the Big Ten has voted to start football on Oct ?.

But if Maryland votes to not play (4 big 10 teams might not play), Taulia is screwed.

now little Gretchen is requiring all participants in athletic event to wear a mask while playing. What a bimbo.

Im thinking masks while competing could cause heart attacks.

And she is getting a security upgrade including a wall around her house at a cost of over 1 million. I didnt think Dems liked walls.

There are companies that designed sport mask to allow athletes to play with it on it. I believe Armour, Nike and Adidas have developed one.
