Lonergan and Simpson at this moment have better QB skills who can pass the ball. A running QB will never beget a championship.
It’s true.
But, Milroe has something those other 2 don’t have and never can have…. and it doesn’t have jack shite to do with ability at QB.

And, that's why I believe Milroe is the starter due to team and recruiting politics. But, he likely won't remain as starter because his play won't be good enough to beat teams with competent defenses.

Looks like the real deal passing. But even saban admitted the game is still a bit too fast for him. The people in the thread saying Simpson outplayed milroe is camp are crazy. Knock on Simpson is he gets easily flustered and is a turnover waiting to happen. Last scrimmages guy was just forcing the ball. He just isn't ready.
Milroe is the best we got for now. Surely that is painfully obvious now

I’m sure glad we don’t have to worry about that with Milroe.

yeah dude, Nick Saban is starting Milroe because he's black.
Christ Almighty.

It actually goes a step further. This is also implying that Saban started Buchner in order to quell any suspicions the fanbase has that Simpson is the best qb. Outright conspiracy stuff

I said in my posts after the USF game that Milroe would probably look fine against Ole Miss and Miss State and everyone would start thinking he’s the guy again.
Forgive me if I’m still pretty skeptical about Milroe having success against good defenses after scoring 24 against a Pete Golding defense that gave up 49 to LSU (and that’s without them getting the ball at the 1 yard line on a blocked punt) or scoring 33 against an MSU defense that gave up 37 to SC (the same SC that scored 17 against UNC, 14 against UGA, and 20 against UT).
I hope Milroe is improving and puts up 30 against A&M this weekend, and if he wins us an SECCG against UGA, I’ll happily eat the crow from my statements prior to Ole Miss. However, let’s not pretend that what our offense has done in the past 2 games is elite or even good…it’s not, and the numbers prove that to be true. Let’s just hope for the lights to go on against A&M this weekend, and put us on a path to Atl (or our defense is elite enough to overcome it).
Edit: Tulane put up 20 on the Pete Golding Rebels with a backup QB. The only thing we can conclude at this point in the season is Milroe led offenses are about equal to USCe and Tulane offenses. That better get a whole lot better if we want to win anything of consequence this season.

He’s the guy if he’s the best qb we have. Nobody here is saying he’s great or even good (except for Marquis Maze in his YouTube series of course)

I guess I’d rather go down swinging (and investing in) a guy with a higher ceiling than playing the guy with the lowest floor. Maximize my chance at winning the championship, even if it increases the volatility and likelihood of losing an additional game or two.
That said, if the coaches think he can learn to read a defense if given enough live snaps, then maybe they think they are playing the guy with highest ceiling. Doesn’t seem so from the outside, but maybe all the other QBs can’t read defenses either or have another limitation that makes them unplayable. That’s a major red flag on recruiting and player development though.

Recruiting has certainly suffered in years we haven’t had a black qb

We're not winning a title with Milroe. It is what it is. I'd love to see Simpson or Lonergan get more and more reps as the season progresses. But, it looks like we're just going to ride the defense and hope we get lucky.

Anyone else vote for getting back to football commentary and leaving the race baiting for another board? This is getting ridiculous at this point.

It really is the past repeating itself. Some of y'all said Hurts was better than Tua. That really happened. Now, we have a handicapped QB who can run fast and throw far and some of y'all think that makes him a QB. Simpson and Lonergan both have better mental acuity at the QB position and are better distributors of the ball than Milroe. Milroe is on borrowed time. I'm calling it. Now, will Milroe cost us another game? Time will tell.

And, y'all know I'm black but I know dumb QB play when I see it and we definitely have that with Milroe.

The major issue with his analysis apparently is that he thinks we’ve got another Tua sitting on the bench. We don’t.
I personally feel pretty confident that the coaches want to win and think Milroe is the best option. Based on what I’ve seen that’s probably correct. The others have not looked very good and even talking about Lonergan at this point makes no sense. He’s not an option this year.
Milroe is still very raw, but I think if you’re honest you can see growth from him the past couple of weeks. Seems to be processing a little faster and working through some reads and progressions in a way he wasn’t at the start of the year. He also has started a total of 5 games in his career. Comparing him against the previous guys we’ve had here is just asking to be disappointed. Compare him against 2011 AJ McCarron. That’s a similar circumstance - third year QB starting for the first time. He does need to get better with his awareness and stop taking some of the sacks. It’s ok to give up on a play and live for the next one.
The time to debate QB for the 2023 Alabama football team has come and gone. Critiques are fine and justified, but debating who actually is the best QB for this team right now? It’s just not really a conversation worth having.

You didn't listen to shite John Doe said. The man said repeatedly we have a QB on the bench with AJ McCarron-like talent with more mobility. He never said we have a Tua level talent on our bench. He did say what we have on the bench is better than Milroe.

Some of y'all are so dumb you can't even recite what was said in a video. I see why some of y'all think Milroe is the best option. You're stupid.

“John Doe” ain’t interesting enough for me to listen to him blabber for 55 minutes.
He’s speculating. Just like you or me. His “opinion” carries no extra weight because people like his YouTube channel.

@Bham Bammer so now you admit you didn't even watch the video. You're a big dummy.
Speculating? bullshite. Milroe isn't doing SEC QB basics. The defense and special teams are winning these games and not anything Milroe is doing.
