Saban is riding the Milroe train now with no stops for better or worse.
I just don't want to be tied to Milroe going in to 2024... unless he shows big improvement in pocket awareness and the passing game. Heck, I'm hoping he runs the table and is the Heisman favorite going into 2024.
We'll see.

You are correct

Having said that, my overall opinion was that Tua was clearly the more talented passer, and we should've replaced Jalen in the AU game. But I will not deny that I was a big Jalen fan, and still am

I mean, we have the A game tape and it's pretty clear Lonergan is a step ahead of Milroe at throwing the ball. Also jibes with all the reports he's rocketing up the depth chart
Milroe from a physical standpoint is the most talented guy on the depth chart, but his passing skills (Pocket presence, decision making, pre/post snap reads, etc.) are the least developed of the group besides maybe Holstein.
At this point the staff deems Milroe the best option going forward, but that doesn't make him the best passer

If they were better they'd be playing.....when has that not been the case at Bama?
Coaches watch practice everyday. I'd like to think they know what they are doing in deciding who plays and how much.
Folks wanted Buchner and they got him... where them same folks at now?
What exactly has Ty Simpson shown that is garnering all this desire for him to start? Does he win the Texas game? Not a chance.
Milroe is not Bryce,Mac or Tua...but the best option we have is Milroe and until the coaches feel differently, thats the QB Im riding with.

Part of it, and part of it is our center snapping the ball. Someone on here mentioned that most of Milroe problems come when they're is a bad snap, that he seems to get rattled by it. So I went back and watched and I think they are right in one sense. Milroe troubles do come on snaps he has to adjust to.
I think his problem is has had a really hard time finding the defense. When he has to look away and look back up, he struggles to locate them and make a read. When he can keep his eyes on the safeties, he does much better. I don't know what he would it could do to overcome that. Whether it's just hard for him to see around the oline or defensive players moving makes it hard for him to differentiate a LB from a safety, i dunno. But he definately has some sort of issue where when he looks away he struggles to get focused.

Whew - John Doe is on fire! He is NOT a Milroe fan

I don’t believe this anymore. Buchner is terrible and we should not have pulled him out of the portal.

Fair enough.

I will eat crow on his pro career. I did not see that coming.

Buchners throws were terrible against USF, but he largely makes the right reads and avoids sacks. I'm not surprised he performed the best that week in practice, he may just be a practice warrior that can't put it together under pressure in actual games
Not sure why he went from that fine MTSU drive to whatever USF was, but the kid couldn't hit the broadside of a barn that day. MTSU it just looked like he had some issues putting it high

A day game is useless. What defense was Lonergan going against? He's headed for a redshirt since he's not even getting mop up duty. Lonergan is at least a year away!

I think even at the Pro level it’s at best supplemental. Far from useless though. I think they really do watch a shite ton of plays

Saban will ride him until he loses at least one game next year.

Their secondary is young, inexperienced and bad at this time. They are talented though. Watch the Miami vs A&M from this year.

I don't think Saban is sold on Milroe regardless of what he says publically. Saban is playing politics and the long game. He knows Milroe will have to sink or swim against A&M. Their DL is very good and it remains to be seen if Milroe can take advantage of their woeful secondary. If Milroe cannot take advantage of their secondary we have a 50/50 shot of winning at best. Furthermore, if Milroe cannot improve his passing enough against the better teams we won't beat Auburn in Jordan Hare.

Running QBs who can't throw the ball competently will never win championships. The only running QBs who have long careers are those who become competent passers a la Randall Cunningham, Mike Vick. Otherwise, the most they can become is a Cam Newton. And, Milroe ain't Cam!

He can’t really read defenses but the passing game has been fairly efficient under Milroe. Almost 11 yards per attempt, 70% completion, and a 2-to-1 td-int ratio.
That being said, interceptions and failure to throw away the ball leading to a very avoidable sacks are probably the most inefficient results of a passing play
Overall I’m not sure where people think Simpson or Lonergan would absolutely be giving us a better offensive output than Milroe. The CFB world is littered with pocket-passing style QBs that are ineffective

Cam Newton won an NFL MVP. I guess he turned out alright after his Heisman and natty in college.
