Saw this posted by an Oklahoma HS coach. We have all seen it and the same thought had crossed my mind why did he not go left? Snap did not look bad either.

He panicked after picking it up off the grass for the 10th time in the game

If the snap is good (it definitely wasn't) maybe he sees it better. He had to take his eyes down to the ground to get the ball. If Latham holds his ground he may could've bounced it out there, but he got blown up. I'm with you that the call was not bad, but we didn't execute at all.

How did Latham get blown up and pan caked liked that on a such a crucial play? How embarrassing for a future first rounder.

Latham was pretty disappointing all year. He had some bright spots but his lows were real bad.

I don’t understand why Milroe thought it was a good idea to run through the traffic when we weren’t on the 1 or 2 yard line.

Easier said than done in the heat of the moment but it’s tough seeing this.

I still didn’t like the call. Roll Milroe out and tell him to run it in or find an open man. Give us a chance at least.

I think that it was a combo of the bad snap, and Latham crashing into him. Just completely threw everything off.

I also don't know if he'd get into the end zone if he had have followed Roberts because Roberts overran the backer, and the edge guy was potentially in position to step up and catch Milroe.

Same. There is no room for improvisation on a play like that to extend the play. A boom or bust play in that situation is not ideal.

I don't think he was wanting to run through traffic, but he had to get up inside with the unblocked defender coming off the edge. I think he probably thought he could get up inside and then bounce it out. But he tripped on Latham getting bullied.

I agree I would have preferred a roll out but with his arm side being the short side of the field that's a little more complicated.

I am not certain the snap was bad but if it was then that would be the reason the play got messed up.
The play as one could guess was to follow the guard and Milroe didn’t or couldn’t do it. The edge defender was past Milroe, who could then have ducked inside and followed the guard into the end zone; unless he was distracted by the bad snap.

Worrying about having to bend down or slide over to get a bad snap EVERY time the ball is snapped is difficult. You're just adding another step to every play that makes things harder.

I personally think it was supposed to be a pass. McClellan was looking back to have it thrown to him. That play is all on McLaughlin.

Great post. He could have walked into the endzone.

edit: Laughing my arse off at the dipshit who downvoted this. You're either stupid or blind. Milroe follows the pulling guard and he walks into the endzone untouched.

Don't be a pussy and do a drive by downvote. Defend why you think I'm wrong.

That's because you didn't watch the clip and see Milroe have to reach down to his ankles.

Pass to Mclellan could very well have been a second or even the first option for the play, depending on the defense reaction.

It was 100% an RPO and anything but what we did (bad snap, bad read, dive into traffic) nets us 6.

This 100%. The call was bad at that time. That big show fat guard wasn't making it to the end in time. The o line was getting beat all night. Combined with the snap issues...

A better day would have been a roll out where milroe could run or pass. Rees made a call that was impacted further by all the above mentioned issues.

You can debate the call all you want but the guard was in great position to lead the QB into the end zone. There was one defender in front of him and he was not going to stop 350+230 lbs of angry beef.

Low snap, Milroe panicked and just barrelled into the pile.

I'd have liked to have seen him rollout and have a run/pass option...but whatever.

He'd have to carry #0 piggyback over the goal line. It was a terrible snap at the ankles.
BTW, I think 77 missed his block also.

Milroe went full retard, it’s that simple.
