I always liked being able to go to one main thread for each sport. It never bothered me to have to go through off subject posts to get back to the main topic. If I see there is a page about bars and restaurants in Madison, Wisconsin I just scan through them and move on. No big deal. I just like hanging out in one thread. But I understand. I appreciate what people bring here to share. Wish I could bring more. But my inside connection died recently and hadn’t been in his former position in a long time.

Meh, I'll live. I liked parsing the megathread probably once a week, but I think others might miss it more than I will.

This sucks but whatever. I’d wait to take it down until you see that the other boards comply. That’s a lot of work by those that create the threads with recruiting info and links.

don't care, I was more into the Megathreads for the joy of the high post counts, but I generally have no interest in starting new threads
Seems crazy to have to start a thread every time a thought pops in your head about Bama football

Maybe I'm misreading but the megathread can still exist, it just can't be stickied right? So as long as people keep posting in it then it would stay on the front page. Unless they are going to anchor it.

We have been told by site ownership to move away from pinned megathreads, sans recruiting.
I know megathreads are a divisive subject here, and have been for a decade, so some of you will be happy with this news while others will be upset.
Boz and I didn't make this decision, but we're going to roll with it.
So, for clarification, mega threads can still happen but can't be pinned?
I always enjoyed having megathreads because you can get all the info you need in one place, instead of multiple threads with random thoughts. I guess it gives the appearance of being "busier" but all you have to do is look at the post count and last post to get an idea of how active a team page can be.

Boz and I don't planning on deleting them. As for Chicken and Co...

For an idiot like me , what is the difference if one thread was called Bama FB and everybody just posted there , unpinned , to Chicken?

I mean, worst case scenario, we could just have a weekly megathread (starting every Sunday and ending with the Sat game thread)

He feels it will drive more board participation and discussion.

Is he trying to get people to start more new threads? It's weird an admin can't change a thread title.

I'm gonna say "yes," because Sl0thstronautEsq posted an update in the Darius Miles thread today. The thread has 17 pages.
Chicken posted soon after, and asked him to start a new thread.
