I watched most of his Senior year, he had solid rapport with a WR named Andrew Rodriquez(still feel they should have offered a walk on spot). Ended up at Houston, transferred to BYU temporarily, then ended up at Utah State. Had a good RB too, Jonathan Williams at Arky.

He was decent as a runner be the goal line too. He's not Ben Roetlhisberger, but he's not Drew Bledsoe either.

If he can find a good connection with one of the WRs, a lot can fall into place. He trusted Rodriquez and threw him open, had a lot of trust/faith in him.

Alabama returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon, as the Crimson Tide players practiced outdoors and in shells on a sunny, 82-degree afternoon in Tuscaloosa. It was the team's 17th day of fall practice.

Here are several tidbits from the media viewing portion of Alabama's 17th practice session on Tuesday afternoon:

- Once again, it was Jacob Coker leading the quarterback line during the viewing periods, with Alec Morris behind him.

- Once the quarterbacks split into two lines, it was Coker, Morris and walk-on Seth Franks in one and David Cornwell, Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett and a walk-on (No. 10) in the other.

- Dominick Jackson (shoulder) was working at right tackle with what appeared to be the first-team offensive line. Nick Saban said Jackson sustained a strained shoulder in the team's second scrimmage on Saturday.

- What appeared to be the first-team offensive line consisted of -- from left to right -- Cameron Robinson, Ross Pierschbacher, Ryan Kelly, Alphonse Taylor and Jackson during the two media viewing periods.

- Freshman offensive lineman Lester Cotton appeared to be taking reps at the second-team left tackle position.

- The Crimson Tide defense appeared to line up in its nickel package during the second of two viewing periods. The cornerbacks were Cyrus Jones and Marlon Humphrey, the safeties were Eddie Jackson and Geno Smith, the Star was Minkah Fitzpatrick and the two inside linebackers were Reggie Ragland and Reuben Foster.

- A little later, the team shifted to its dime package, and Maurice Smith replaced Ragland at the Money position.

- Former Alabama great Bobby Humphrey was at the football facility before the afternoon practice session.

- Scouts from the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans watched Tuesday's practice from the sideline.

*** What's next: Alabama will return to the practice field Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. CT

All I can tell from this is that walk-on Seth Franks is ahead of "a walk-on (No. 10)" on the depth chart because he actually has a name.

I'm really glad Minkah is playing Star. Mo was a corner too, so either way I'm just glad we're getting a bit more coverage at that position.

Sounds exactly like McElroy's story.

You'll never have a QB that gets a Rhodes Scholarship, makes a 49 on the Wonderlic, AND QBs a National Championship team in the same season. Ever.

well, gmac didnt actually win the rhodes, he was a candidate.....

its kinda freaky, gmac was from southlake TX, 3 star with few offers in the class of 2006, mccarron was a high rated recruit 3 classes later. morris is from allen TX, 3 star with few offers in the class of 2012, blake barnett is high rated recruit 3 classes later.

its gonna be 2009 all over again, undefeated season against a very tough schedule.

They have a 6'6" 235lb SS that they'll also be using at WR. That's about all that worries me offensively. That kind of frame is hell on earth for most DBs.

Luckily he's white so let's hope he doesn't have serious ups?
