Minor detail, but can you add the classic "We Talkin' Bout Practice" to the title? It feels naked without it. I know I'm nitpicking.

There will only be one practice today instead of the usual two (veterans in the morning, newcomers in the evening) to start fall camp. Not sure of the reasoning but the first practice of camp will begin this afternoon, and Nick Saban will hold a press conference after that at around 5 p.m. CT.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knew so you guys weren't wondering why there was no news from a 9:30 a.m. practice.

Aaahhh that's better

TIME TO EAT!!!!!!

We need to see Reggie push his weight around and be a leader for this front 7 ala sr year Ro and CJ and this D could really be something special IMO

Hopefully Damien learns all the small stuff QUICKLY (blocking, flat routes, and some camaraderie with whoever the starting QB is going to be)

The QB battle obviously and the WR battles will be the 2 most interesting to keep note of...I'd love LOVE to see the depth chart look like this:

QB1: David Cornwell
QB2: Jacob Coker
QB3: Cooper Bateman
QB4: Alec Morris
RS Barnett & I don't care how good he is

X: ArDarius Stewart
Calvin Ridley

Y: Robert Foster
not sure who here

Z or slot: Chris Black
Daylon Charlot (got a feeling he can be a big difference maker for the 3/4 years he's at Bama)

Kiffin & Burns also need to find a replacement for Nudie or implement more 2 TE sets with OJ & TFS & get Hale acclimated QUICK also

Can't wait till Sept 5th

@ByCasagrande: Rainy day so far in Tuscaloosa, could push first Alabama practice indoors.

Everyone do whatever hoodoo you must to prevent a March 2.0.

@CecilHurt: You know it's a humid first day of practice when one of the managers throws up.

Sounds like Coker is leading the QBs. Good to hear. No offense to Cornwell but if Coker doesn't do anything to lose the job I don't want to start Cornwell just to sandbag for next year

As expected, sr. QB Jake Coker led the 1st-team unit while David Cornwell & Blake Barnett were w/ the 2nd-team group.

I'm shocked by Barnett.

He's going to give Cornwell a serious run next year. I'm fairly sure that at this point Barnett will get game snaps THIS year. It will likely be against weak OOC opponents in mop up time, but I'm almost sure it will happen.

no way. it doesn't make sense to have Barnett and Cornwell both playing.

I agree it doesn't but sadly what sucks is all I've heard and read about Barnett seems like what bg13 said might happen but it's what happens when the QB recruiting takes a nose dive for 2 - 3 years

Didn't say it was an absolute, but I do feel fairly sure it happens.

Why not? To keep ONE year of difference between them? So you are going to groom the kid for FOUR years in a backup role in order to start for one year? That doesn't make sense. The kid has talent. He can play physically, but needs the mental side down and still needs to add about 10 lbs.

I'm getting the preseason chub. I really hope cornwell shows out and passes everybody. I want the best QB playing, I just hope he is good enough to be that QB. Two 1 and done QB's in a row just doesnt feel like Alabama football.
