I have read from several people that coker is introverted. NS mentioned he wants someone to take charge. This was addressed to all the QB's but possibly mainly to Coker. This may be why he has fallen behind. I also recall the end of a half last year where he was in to run the 2 minutes offense and he went brain dead and held on to a ball with seconds to go. The clock ran out. He could have thrown it away and we would have attempted a FG. But with him holding on to the ball we got zip. NS was livid on the sidelines. This one play could be a microcosm of Coker and decisions he makes. I think we had 1 time out left to bring in the FG unit

I not sure if that means anything. B Sims did not throw a pass in a game until his 3rd year where he went 5 for 10 for the season. And at least Morris has spent the last 3 season learning how to play QB where Sims did not. Just saying

Drew, Thomas Watts and that crew loved them some Coker... Site unseen, of course, LOL!

Yeah, I mean I don't want to jump to any conclusions, and I'm certainly not in a position to evaluate talent-wise, but we've seen some pretty similar situations play out.

Greg backed up JPW, then got the job. AJ backed up Greg, then got the job. Blake backed up AJ, then got the job.

It's possible that they misjudged Coker when they made him the backup last year, but you'd think if it were really that close they would have erred on the side of the kid who is going to be around longer. Just my two cents.

I am in belief that the staff was not sure what to expect between Morris, Bateman, and Sims. Probably did not see 3 QBs for depth purposes between the three and with Cornwell basically starting new in the spring after recovering from knee surgery that they wanted 3 QBs. So bringing in Coker was assurance that we would have 3 QBs going into fall that had knowledge of the system and/or game experience.

I think many jumped the gun in thinking Coker was being brought in to start. It may have never been the case but more like we did with the late additions to the roster this summer at RB.

Haven't seen a lot of talk about him. Do y'all think Mekhi Brown plays late in blowouts or redshirts?

At 240 he's bigger than I thought. He might not need the year to add muscle but with all the depth at OLB, I'd still expect him to RS

On another note, CNS singled out SBB as someone standing out on ST's so I doubt he redshirts

I'm starting to wonder if we're being hoodwinked.

And whoever they pick will win the job...

Not that big of deal IMO, just a really level playing field of QBs going against some bamfs on defense. It will all shake out correctly.

I hope Lane sticks around a few more years. I know that the qb will not be an issue with him going forward. Our OL, DL, LB, RB, WR and CBs are all fine now. If we can just solidify our qb and add a little more depth to the secondary in the safety position we will be ok. We just need to bring in 2 studs a year in on the DL and LB and secondary, not concerned about everywhere else.

I haven't seen it anywhere.

If they're not on the same page maybe it's because they can't come to an agreement about who amongst all the talent should be getting the ball the most.

IF Miami fires their coach then Lane's name will come up. His temperament may fit that program

I hope Miami has a good year, if not, we could lose Lane or Super Mario. Maybe both.

I see where that could happen, but having Lane for more than 2 years would be a long shot.
