See I thought this last year as well. I was hopeful that the secondary would come together. I was sadly mistaken

Surely not sold on the offense either. Drake and Henry are proven. We have a lot of star power at other skill positions, but none are really proven.

O that if our OL can control the line any of the 5 could get us to Atlanta and beyond.
It hasn't done that sine 2012

No real difference than in 09.
Lots of difference since 09. No Julio type receiver that we know of and that is proven. Offenses we face are a lot better than in 09. 09's defense was loaded with 1st round talent as well.

You realize there are no less than 4 future first rounders on this D, too, right?

quote:probable first round guy on our D, robinson, reed, maybe allen (2nd round at the least), ragland. who knows about the younger guys, but im assuming someone among tony brown, marlon humphrey, minkah fitzpatrick, kendall sheppard, daron payne, and others will go in the first round. lots of other guys who are going to get drafted (tomlinson, cyrus jones, rueben foster etc..). we are very stacked on D, sheer talent on the squad is in the ballpark of any of our best defenses. the big difference is that football has changed so much in the fast 5 years. if last years d had been playing in 09 or 10 they would have looked very good (and actually were decent, offense sputtering and turnovers had a big hand in our 2 losses)

quote:I don't hate or even dislike him as a person. But I don't think he's a good QB, at all. Some of the hate might be due to the way he carries himself. It looks like he doesn't give a shite. Remember how Mett would look like someone stole his dog at all times? Coker seems to be similar to that. It's one thing to do that when you're really good. But it doesn't fly when you kinda suck...
I don't think anyone hates Coker,

What I can report: Jake Coker isn't out of town, isn't in a class, isn't transferring. That's all I can report for now.

Our defense was amazing last year.
Until 3rd down.

- Toward the end of the second viewing period, the defense lined up in its nickel package. The cornerbacks were Cyrus Jones and freshman Minkah Fitzpatrick, the safeties were Eddie Jackson and Geno Smith, the Star was Maurice Smith and the two inside linebackers were Reggie Ragland and Reuben Foster.

Fitzpatrick could end up being an Antonio Cromartie type of corner for us. A big rangy starter from day one

I wouldn't look too much into Coker not being there. He could have a bug that's got him down and may be why he performed so poorly yesterday. I wouldn't overreact to one scrimmage as well. This will be a good team and the only teams that concern me are Auburn, LSU and Georgia.

Local Montgomery sports radio show said a source is telling them Coker has some sort of foot or ankle injury. Possibly a broken bone, TIFWIW.
Sounds to me like somebody spotted him with a magic boot.

Interesting. Wouldn't Saban have said something though? I'd assume if it happened it would likely have been during the scrimmage.
Posted on 8/17/15 at 11:40 am to AllBamaDoesIsWin
Wonder if he got hurt playing bball or something? Saban will go nuclear in his next presser if he got hurt playing hoops or softball or something..

This means Barnett will be the starter IMO. If Coker hadn't pulled away before, then he's not going to now...even if it means he has ingrown toenail.

I still think its going to be Morris or Cornwell.
It could be Blake, but him throwing 3 INTs(2 pick sixes) in the scrimmage is the exact opposite thing that Saban would like to see in whoever starts.
