Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but looking at some of his recent tweets it appears his father is very ill and maybe near death. If so, it seems to me that could explain him taking a break from summer-2 to return home for a few weeks.

I'm just going off the new reports... Usually when a player gets away for personal reasons, the university doesn't release enrollment status... Saban typically says they're away for personal reasons and leaves it at that.
The way all of this came out just seems odd, and most of the fan response would have been totally different had he not already aired grievances about lack of playing time then jumped into the transfer portal.

There definitely seems to be something off-the-field weighing on his mind the last month or 2, and it could very well be a loved one's health. But regardless, there's ample info info in his tweets to indicate a logical reason to be in Maryland for part of the summer. There's also ample reason to think he's about to wreck some folks while wearing a Crimson 9.

Correct, and that's what makes Cecil's "story" pop. If you substitute Anoma's name for Jeudy's, it's not even a story. The whole fanbase would assume he's just not taking July classes.
I'll be honest, I've lost some respect for Cecil Hurt in the last 12 hours. This was just blatant yellow journalism, if the term journalism even applies. Blatant, short-term scandal mongering.

As far as Cecil goes, I wouldn't criticize him too much. Cecil wouldn't do this if he didn't think there was any meat on the bone. The fact that he's willing to do this lets me know he knows something is off.
When has he done this before?
Also consider if there is something to this...everyone would jump down his throat if they later find out he wasn't enrolled in July. "Where was Cecil?!"
