Why?

Milroe plays much better at night.

You mean the play where Milroe threw the ball to where Williams was supposed to be if he hadn't stopped his route and sat? Because based on DeBoer's reaction that was on Williams not Milroe.

Maybe the OP is thinking of a different play, but I assumed he meant the one where the ball went about 8 feet over his head. Guy has some hops, but asking him to run a literal vertical route might be asking too much.

I would take the week and throw in a couple of hard-arse practices. No shite. Pound those players into the ground - let them know we ain’t playing.

Get the game plan ready now. Don’t wait until next week.

You have another off week right after (well, Mercer), that gets you ready for a two week season.

I think Alabama can win the game. I almost expect it, but not quite.

If Bama comes out with 2 false starts on the first possession then we're in trouble.

Bama needs to pressure Nussmeier and rely on Milroe's legs. Bama can run the same offense as last year with some passes sprinkled in and win. Bama had 288 yards rushing and 6 TDs last year.

I think we'll know if Bama will win pretty early.

My only real concern is if Nuss is on. Then we would be in a shootout. They have a-lot of capability in their receiver room. Nuss had a really bad game against AM and their defense got pantsed by the QB change. We can definitely win but we can’t be penalty ridden on offense, we simply can’t afford it.

I'm going the other way. This is precisely the type of game Milroe will show up big. He knows NFL scouts are watching, and he needs some more plays for the highlight reel.

Ehhh then hero ball starts. And when he plays hero ball it’s ugly. Holding the ball too long. Refusing to step up in the picked. Horrible reads on RPO. Won’t take open run lanes for easy first downs/yards. Death Valley is going to be raucous. I’d be more apt to say 10-12 penalties for 130 yards.

Jalen Milroe road games the past 2 years:

2023:
@Miss St - 10-12, 164 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 69 rushing yards, 2 TDs
@Texas AM - 21-33, 321 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, -31 rushing yards, 0 TDs
@Kentucky - 15-22, 234 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 36 rushing yards, 3 TDs
@ Auburn - 16-24, 259 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 107 rushing yards

2024:
@Wisconsin - 12-17, 196 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 75 yards rushing, 2 TD
@Vandy - 18-24, 310 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 10 yards rushing, 1 TD
@Tenn - 25-45, 239 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 11 yards rushing, 0 TD
--

On the whole he has played well on the road. His last road game was by far (and I do mean FAR) his worst game ever. Just a disaster. However, overall he has been good on the road averaging almost 250 yards per game and completing 66% of his passes.

LSU in 2024 has not been that great.

They lost 27-20 to USC.
They beat South Carolina by 3 in a game they should have probably lost.
They barely beat Ole Miss at home by 3.
They beat up on Arkansas
They were embarrassed late in the game against TAMU.

Their offense isn't scary. They're averaging 5.71 yards per play. Bama is averaging 6.88 yards per play.

Bama is mad about scoring 34 against Mizzou and yet LSU hasn't managed to do that but once against SEC competition.

LSU QB ratings against SEC teams - 131, 110, 124, 119. They're averaging 3.43 yards per carry in SEC play.

LSU may win, but this isn't a great LSU squad.

Neither was Tenn

Losing to Vandy was more respectable than losing to Tenn

I agree with Gideon. Milroe destroyed basically the same defense last season. Granted it was a home game. I feel much better about this team right now than I did about the team last season before LSU. In fact, if we successfully get pressure on the quarterback, I could see us having a blowout type win. Big if though because both of their tackles are pretty good. I don’t think yall yet realize that we actually have a pretty good coaching staff. This bye week is going to be advantage Alabama. If you’re wondering how I came up with this conclusion, go back and look at the gameplan against UGA. And please bookmark it and come back and tell me how wrong I was.

The bye week is much needed. I think Milroe has to run for Bama to win. It definitely looks like he needs the break. He has seemed a step or two slower lately.

You could have just said, “I expect penalties and mistakes”. Time and place haven’t mattered.
