I like it. Ashley was a great team leader during her time here and I think she'll be able to recruit well. SEC is a different league than it used to be, but I have faith we'll get back on track

But I'm not a fan of hiring ex-players as coaches. Example Mike Dubose, Mike Shula, Dana Duckworth, Mark Gottfried.
Yeah, I know what you mean - add Paul Bryant to that list

I think Gymnastics is a different beast as that guy reference BB and FB sports.
Does anyone know if this sports is a revenue sport like MBB and FB?

Murphy is probably going to slip right to OKC again.
How'd that work out?

I would say the football, softball and gymnastics have remained our top three sports, based on results for a long time. We have done extremely well in Gymnastics recruiting the last 2 years so to say that program in slipping every year is BS. Gymnastics is a good bit more competitive than it was during the early years under Sara Patterson. THE SEC is way more competitive in Gymnastics. But, I dont see any of the girls sports becoming a revenue generator. Got to have the TV draw for that.

It's practically impossible for gymnastics to pull a profit.
There's only 5-6 home meets a year, the equipment is almost as much as the scholarships.... the insurance is likely up there too. Because there's so few programs, nearly everyone recruits nationally so that's expensive as hell too.

They still draw good crowds. Its good family entertainment.
People like to watch it because they do things that most of us would not even dream of trying. And we sit there and just shake our heads and say, How they do dat?
And, there are other reasons that some people like to watch it.

Outside of football, a gymnastics meet is my favorite sporting event to attend.
Back when Coleman was literally packed to the rafters for Bama vs Georgia at their peaks... awesome atmosphere.

Though, I feel like people forget... when Suzanne Yoculan had Georgia flying high, they would just about AlWAYS beat us in the regular season, it was infuriating.

I know next to nothing about her. What is everyone’s thoughts on the hire?

Sarah P probably made this hire behind the scenes. 1 month or so after the end of the season and Ducky retires etc. My guess Bryne knew this a month ago and wanted to wait to make it official on the retirement and the hire.

Duckworth should have been given at least two more years to really prove her worth.

other than football and maybe softball, what UA programs did better than UA Gymnastics under Duckworth?
