Will Anderson is only the third Alabama player to record 4.0 sacks in a single game, joining Derrick Thomas and Leroy Cook.

Derrick Thomas had 5.0 sacks against Texas A&M in 1988.

Yes, Will is a generational talent. Derrick
is my favorite player ever and to see someone that even approaches his level has been a joy to watch!

Yeah man he's definitely not flying under the radar.

I would argue that was quinnen Williams. He did the same thing from a DT position. Dominant OLBs come around fairly often throughout the league, but guys like Aaron Donald, Suh, and Quinnen Williams are like unicorns

if i ever bought a jersey it would be DT, that being said, Big Will is better. Kid gets doubled all the time and the rest of our 4 stars cant do a damn thing.

I think most of us are aware of just how badass he is, but because we've had so many studs come through the last decade, we probably take him for granted.

But, he is absolutely one of the most talented players that we've had during the dynasty, and he doesn't take plays off. All about the process. The type of player that flourishes under Saban.

Much respect to Will, but DT was the best.

Hence my posting name.

Leroy Cook

Decided to google

quote:

Cook was widely thought of as being a first to third round talent in the NFL Draft, but on November 29, 1975, after a 28–0 win against the University of Auburn when Bob Baumhower slapped Cook's left shoulder pad from behind in a celebratory manner, Cook's right knee snapped and suffered a torn ligament. He sat out of most practices in the weeks leading to the Sugar Bowl against Penn State. He started the game but had to leave after his knee gave out in the first series and probably caused further damage to the original injury.

Is that right?

DT took plays off for the 3rd and long, i am fine with that because it was wonderful to witness.

Will doesnt take any plays off. I am 50, give the former players benefit of the doubt, cant do it with #31

He is an amazing player and leader...I hope the rest of the defense follows his intensity and turn it around the rest of the season.

Mr Anderson has the best motor I've personally seen. Some guys have the same amount of want to in their motor but can't sustain. I watch Mr Anderson play looking for the falloff during drives yet somehow he never does. He's found a way to go beyond what should be physically possible. You know his lungs and legs are on fire.

While watching all I see is a unrelenting dude that pushes another dude twice his size into the backfield every snap. That's strong AF if you do the math. Yeah he's a freak. Iron clad top five pick this year if he were eligible

He won't be a Senior.

He'd probably be the 2nd player off the board in the draft if he COULD leave after this year. Behind Evan Neal.

He's arguably the most important player on the team, depending on how good you believe our backup QBs are.

He's a terror off the edge, much like DT. So it was an incredibly brilliant defensive strategy by Golding to keep using him on twists against Moo State to try and bring him up the middle where he kept getting caught up in the traffic in the interior, negating our only weapon for pass rushing. How smart do you have to be to just let him do his thing from the edge and get out of his way? Golding continues to scheme himself into indefensible decisions.

Not as brilliant as dropping him 15 yards deep to cover the sideline.

Will is incredible. Still can’t figure out how Tamu completely neutralized him with a mediocre OL though.

That’s about right if I remember. Leroy was my uncle’s best friend, we were pallbearers in my uncle’s funeral when I was in college. He was on the Bama All Century Team. If you saw him you’d just think he was a tall country guy, would have been good in the NFL if he hadn’t been hurt.

I'd love to see the numbers of how many times 31 wins his 1 on 1 matchups. It seems like anytime he doesnt get doubled then he's in the backfield or at least getting a pressure.
