That's why you need to recruit for long term.

We have no concept of numbers that big.

This is probably outdated by now, but a few months ago when Elon Musk was looking to buy twitter, I did the research myself and calculated that hypothetically (at that time), Elon could purchase every single NFL franchise in America, and still have enough money leftover to be richer than Bill Gates.

I feel like the way you spent his money would have been better than twitter. Feel like he foolishly decided to buy that at the top of the market when it has never been proven to really be all that profitable. In many respects, Elon is a good proof that a fool may easily part with his money but if said fool started life on 3rd base then they can never truly fail.

If you think Elon bought twitter to make money you have no idea what's going on in the world.

This story was written in July, BTW, before the season even started. They're going to buy every single player they can get from here on out after the playoffs.

If that were true how did we land Keelon Russell when he was a verbal with them prior to coming to Bama?

Did he sign with Bama on a discount?

If he did wouldn’t they have just bought some other 5* QB?

I don't think Alabama has any

Alabama has a lot of powerful and wealthy alum but they don't live in Alabama and a few don't live in the United States.

The issue there is those types don't value the football team so donating enormous sums for its survival and success isn't happening.

The big thing is week need KDB to create a culture like Nick Saban where a kid will turn down a bigger pay day to have future success.

Don’t laugh … we need the college football version of Billy Beane doing “Moneyball.”

Ive had the exact same thought. The chaos of NIL and transfer portal makes a ripe situation for an efficient moneyball system to boost a college football program.

Guys with money hate parting with money without results.

Man, I love my school, but I'm no fool! I worked and still work hard for my money....I'd rather me and my family benefit from my money than making sure a certain player goes to my college.

Not anymore.

1. “Recruiter” sends offer to agent for player.

2. Agent shops around for better offer.

Rinse and repeat - deepest pockets win.

That includes potential and current team members.

There is no such thing now.

The game as we knew it no longer exists. And frankly, I have zero interest in the new game.

Give me 2 star kids that bleed crimson and go to war has NEVER worked.

The reality is that Alabama has the money to compete. However, Alabama may or may not have the money to compete EVERY year.

We have to expect inconsistencies in our performance from year to year with the possibility putting it all together every 5 years or so.

Knowing that, I wouldn’t doubt they were throwing money round to rally for that last playoff spot.

You just pay your players a decent salary and if that's not enough then let the go chase a larger bag. 7-5 or 8-4 at best but at some point, you have to stay within your checkbook.

That will go over well with the Bama fan base

I am waiting for the Ivy leagues to enter the picture. It’ll be game over. They have applied to move to FCS Division 1.
Stanford just has to decide whether to commit or not. If they decide to they’ll be among the top teams every year. Notre Dame is already showing its financial muscle. SMU almost got the death penalty for trying pay for play with Dickerson and James. Things need to change fast or we won’t be competing much longer.
Absolutely hate this.
